Chapter 130: Enrollment Issues
Liu Qingshan was satisfied with the arrangements. After ending the call, he immediately had Chen Zuming notify Jawahar.
Chen Zuming, who came from a wealthy background, seemed quite willing to do such errand-boy tasks; he readily agreed and set off at once.
"See that? You just need to find things for this kid to do. Cultivating his sense of responsibility is the right thing to do!" Lin Fengqiao said to Jackie Chan upon seeing this.
Liu Qingshan listened from the side and chuckled to himself. Your child is already so old; isn't it a bit too late to start thinking about cultivating a sense of responsibility now?
Kunal arrived half an hour later. Pajey, dressed in a sharp little suit, bolted from the elevator as soon as it opened and ran toward Liu Qingshan.
Although the child hadn't spent much time with him in India, the few days they had spent sweating together on the training grounds had left a deep impression on Pajey. Furthermore, as he felt his martial arts skills steadily improving, for a child who already worshipped Liu Qingshan, it seemed that aside from his own family, no one could replace his master's place in his heart.
"Whoa, you’ve grown quite a bit in the few months since I last saw you!" Liu Qingshan exclaimed, embracing the boy and offering generous praise.
Pajey was much more mature than his peers. After expressing his affection for his master, he turned his gaze toward Kim Hee-sun with a fawning look. "Hello, Shiniang (Master's wife). This is a gift my mother asked me to bring for you!"
The little guy pulled out something resembling a colorful silk pouch from somewhere and presented it with both hands, looking very respectful.
Kim Hee-sun’s face lit up with a smile. "I've heard that Pajey is a good boy; your hardworking nature is just like your master's."
Her English, which had originally been better than Liu Qingshan's, now seemed to have fallen behind.
Aishwarya had been standing by, shrinking away and not daring to speak, until Kim Hee-sun pulled her to her side, which helped ease the shyness on her face.
"Aishwarya, I was the one who helped find your school, so shouldn't you show some appreciation to me as well?"
Unexpectedly, Chen Zuming squeezed in after Aishwarya had hugged Liu Qingshan. His eyes had been gleaming the moment he saw the young girl, and it was clear his old habits were acting up again.
It was no wonder he was drooling; Aishwarya was an exceptionally beautiful young woman. She possessed the typical sharp, three-dimensional features of an Indian, combined with relatively fair and delicate skin. At first glance, she looked exactly like a beautiful Eurasian girl.
As soon as he spoke, Aishwarya, who had just begun to recover, became reserved once again.
Kim Hee-sun quickly pulled her into her arms and glared at Chen Zuming. "Don't scare the little girl. This is her first time far from home; she’s never encountered a thick-skinned man like you!"
Chen Zuming didn't care about the warning and continued his advances, stretching out his hand. "Hello, Aishwarya, just call me Jaycee. My dad is Jackie Chan."
Nearby, Jackie Chan rolled his eyes and laughed to himself, muttering, "The brat only thinks of me when it's convenient; he must use me as a shield quite often!"
Sure enough, upon hearing Chen Zuming's last sentence, Aishwarya’s mood stabilized significantly. She had spent months around her cousin, Mallika, and had seen many entertainment stars, including Jackie Chan. Upon hearing that Chen Zuming was Jackie Chan's son, she felt much more at ease and subconsciously excluded him from the ranks of lecherous men.
"Oh, what a lovely girl. I heard you're sixteen? Come here, I'm Jaycee's mother. Let me dote on you." Seeing her son's attentive behavior, Lin Fengqiao immediately adopted the mindset of a doting mother eager to help her son. Mothers are always like this; while they can't stand their own husbands flirting around, they love seeing their sons flourish in the company of women.
Aishwarya was clearly unaccustomed to such sudden, elder-like affection and looked at Liu Qingshan, somewhat flustered and at a loss.
Liu Qingshan understood and quickly stepped forward to smooth things over.
"Aishwarya, this is Sister Qiao. Everyone who knows her, regardless of age, calls her that. She is Jaycee's mother and a famous veteran actress who cares deeply for the younger generation! Once you start studying film, you’ll be able to learn many acting techniques from her!"
"So Sister Qiao is also a big star?" Aishwarya finally knew what to say.
Sister Qiao smiled. "That was all over twenty years ago; I stopped acting once I got married. By the way, which school are you going to? Do you want me to speak to the teachers there so someone can look after you?"
At this point, Aira took over the conversation. "It actually has something to do with my aunt. If Aishwarya is set on studying acting, it will likely be at the Beijing Film Academy. The person I found is Auntie Qu, a friend of my aunt's!"
"Oh, Auntie Qu? Haha, Aishwarya, you really do need my help. In a few days, I'll invite her over to the house, and Aishwarya, you should come too!"
The most excited person upon hearing this was Chen Zuming. He immediately helped explain to Aishwarya: "The Beijing Film Academy is the best film school, and it ranks number one in all of Asia!"
Seeing the girl's gaze shift toward him, Liu Qingshan nodded in confirmation. "Jaycee helped you find the school. Are you sure you want to study acting now?"
Aishwarya nodded. "My cousin said I should choose based on my own interests, and I love making movies!"
"That's good. I'll find time in the next couple of days to take you to visit the campus. If you like the environment there, we'll settle it!"
As he spoke, Liu Qingshan turned his attention to Lin Fengqiao. "Sister Qiao, as far as I know, the Beijing Film Academy teaches in Chinese. Given Aishwarya's situation, how does the language instruction work?"
"There's no way they would open an English-taught course just for her. Working hard to learn Chinese is her only option! However, most students at the Beijing Film Academy have good English skills, so daily communication shouldn't be much of a barrier!" Aira chimed in before Lin Fengqiao could answer.
Since the three were speaking in Mandarin, Chen Zuming, acting like a lackey, diligently translated for Aishwarya, fearing she wouldn't understand.
Lin Fengqiao then spoke: "As far as I know, the official start of the semester has already passed. Aishwarya being admitted now counts as a special admission. I intend to pull some strings to get her a status as an auditing student, and once she can understand the language of instruction, she can officially transfer to become a special student."
Liu Qingshan finally felt relieved, as the worry he had been harboring was resolved.
He thought of Che Geng and called the boy over. "Pajey, Master is a bit busy today, so I'll have Brother Geng look after you for now. He has a solid foundation in martial arts, and you will definitely be interested in the Five Animals Frolic he excels at!"
Che Geng was much more sensible than Pajey; hearing this, he knew exactly what he should do. However, he didn't know English and could only attempt to communicate through gestures. Fortunately, Pajey had begun learning Mandarin in the last few months and could barely manage a few stumbling sentences with Che Geng.
Once the two children had walked away and Aishwarya was being looked after, Liu Qingshan left the restaurant to discuss some matters with Jawahar.
