Chapter 108: A Unique Treasure
After a long while, the pale-faced Lin Feng exhaled deeply and looked toward Shang Rong.
"Who exactly is he? To wield the power of destruction and rebirth with a mere wave of his hand—if he hadn't held back, I would surely be dead by now." Lin Feng’s heart gradually calmed as he weighed the current situation within the Yinque Palace.
The first punch shattered Yun Xingyi, the second pierced his Dantian, and the third fused and restored it. Such terrifying precision in his technique—how was this any different from an immortal?
"Big Brother Shang Rong, you are so amazing!" Man Qing clapped her hands, cheering with joy.
The green-haired man smiled slightly, but his expression suddenly turned cold. He turned his head and declared loudly, "You have damaged the property of Yinque Palace and are no longer qualified to stay. There is now only one path: cultivate to the next realm and leave this immortal abode!"
"No! I haven't obtained the immortal treasure yet!" Daoist Xu Ci suddenly shouted recklessly.
"Hmph, if you want the immortal treasure, you must see if you have the life to claim it!" With a cold snort from Shang Rong, Daoist Xu Ci felt his entire body turn icy; his blood seemed to congeal, and his heartbeat slowed by several beats.
"From this moment on, if any of you damage another item, do not blame me for being heartless!" Shang Rong’s sharp gaze swept over every face before he turned to the three women and said, "The Soul-Suppressing Stone has been destroyed. From now on, our cultivation within Yinque Palace will progress even faster."
"Yes! Big Brother Shang Rong, I have so much to tell you. Let’s go!" Man Qing glanced at the others, took Shang Rong’s hand, and flew toward the main hall.
Man Xue and Man Die smiled, shook their heads, and drifted to the side of the pool to tidy up the scattered jade stones.
"Junior Brother, how are you feeling?" Chen Yuxi approached Lin Feng and asked with concern.
"I’m fine, Senior Sister." Lin Feng offered a strained smile. Che Ba also walked over and patted his shoulder, though he said nothing.
The remaining six people each occupied a corner of the Yinque Palace courtyard, sitting in meditation. No one dared to mention searching for immortal treasures again. The three sisters occupied the garden by the pool, while Shang Rong sat in the small pavilion, his presence casting an invisible, immense pressure on the group, making them feel as if they were being watched—a confinement as agonizing as a prison.
The spiritual energy in Yinque Palace was abundant, making cultivation twice as effective, but no one wanted to be the first to leave. While pretending to cultivate, several pairs of eyes still scanned the immortal abode, harboring faint hopes of discovering something. Occasionally, they would exchange questioning glances, only to sigh and shake their heads.
"Brother Lin Feng, have you noticed anything unusual these past few days?" Che Ba was the first to lose his patience. Seeing that Shang Rong remained in deep meditation, he grew bolder and leaned close to Lin Feng to whisper.
"No. By the way, do you think that Shang Rong is an immortal demon?" Lin Feng gestured toward the flower pavilion. The entire structure was enveloped in a dense layer of spiritual energy, like a thick fog, making it impossible to see the figure inside.
"They must be demon cultivators from the Immortal Realm," Che Ba whispered. "Those girls are Brocade Dragon Carp in their true forms, but I cannot see through this man. The disparity in our strength is too vast."
Lin Feng nodded. After a moment of silence, he remembered something and asked, "Brother Che, what is the relationship between the Nine Dragon Palace and your kind in the Wilderness? Why haven't we seen them here to treasure hunt?"
Che Ba sneered. "Those snake spawn are likely busy battling the Golden Peng City for the seat of the Flying Tribe’s ruler; they have no time to hunt for treasures."
"The ruler’s seat? What is that?" Lin Feng asked, puzzled.
Che Ba lowered his voice further. "Every hundred years, the Twelve Palaces select the three rulers of the land, sky, and sea to govern the entire demon race and distribute the resources of the continent and oceans. For the Flying Tribe, it is only the Nine Dragon Palace and the Myriad-Mile Peng City, and they fight the most fiercely. Unlike us beasts, who are harmonious and take turns, this time it should be the turn of the Green Bull King, Yong Meng."
"I see. Besides you and the Nine Dragon Palace, which other factions are there in the Wilderness? Could you tell me more, Brother Che?" Lin Feng inquired.
"Heh, it’s easy to say; I know these things best," Che Ba shifted and moved closer. "Compared to the islands of the Four Seas, the Wilderness is quite small, so there are only five factions: the Nine Dragon Palace, the Heaven-Colliding Palace, the Spirit Venerable Palace, the Cloud-Ascending Pavilion, and the Myriad Phenomenon Palace. However, the Nine Dragon Palace is the most powerful. There are countless dragons, snakes, pythons, and flood dragons in this world, and anyone remotely related to them falls under their jurisdiction. That’s why the people from the Nine Dragon Palace are even more arrogant than our Cloud-Ascending Pavilion."
"That is true." Lin Feng nodded. The debt of his slaughter would eventually need to be collected from Teng Chong, so he took this opportunity to learn more about the Five Palaces of the Wilderness.
"Ah, right, is there a Snow Rock White Tiger among the Twelve Demon Kings?" Lin Feng asked, his heart stirred.
Che Ba shook his head. "The Bright Dragon Emperor, the Peng City Emperor, the Golden Elephant King, the Green Bull King, the Mastiff Lion King, the Sky Wolf King, the Sea Anemone King, the Shark King, the Flower Crow King, the Hawksbill King, the God Whale King, and my father, the Great Ape King. As far as I know, there hasn't been a Snow Rock White Tiger for thousands of years. If I have the chance, I will ask the Mastiff Lion King, Ji Pei, for you; he knows the most about the Lion-Tiger clans. But Brother Lin Feng, why do you ask? Have you seen a Snow Rock White Tiger?"
"I did encounter one once, but I cannot be certain if it was the legendary Snow Rock White Tiger. Thinking back, I still feel a bit dazed..." Lin Feng wore a nostalgic expression. After a while, he asked, "Brother Che, where do you think this immortal abode is located? In the Wilderness or in the ocean?"
"This... I do not know. The Absolute Cessation Sea lies beyond the Dan and Li Seas, but it is not far from the Wilderness. Since the Immortal Gongshu could place a formation on the Absolute Cessation Sea, he could just as easily have teleported us here. It is hard to say." Che Ba smacked his lips.
The means of an immortal were indeed unfathomable. Most importantly, they knew far too little about this Immortal Gongshu and the super-expert Shang Rong.
"The people who entered Yinque Palace last time didn't find that unique treasure, so I don't think we have any hope either." Both men sighed, and another silence fell.
Chen Yuxi walked over and asked softly, "What are you two talking about? Have you discovered anything?"
The remaining three people turned their gaze toward them, ears perked, listening intently.
"Senior Sister, no. Have you noticed anything unusual?" Lin Feng asked with a smile.
Chen Yuxi shook her head gently, sat down, and stared blankly at the tightly closed gate of the immortal abode. Che Ba and Lin Feng sighed again.
Being inside the immortal abode but unable to act—not even having the qualification to touch the items here—they could now only speculate and sneakily search for a last shred of opportunity.
"Look, the way those four are cultivating seems different from ours," Lin Feng suddenly remarked.
Che Ba and Chen Yuxi looked toward the garden. The four were wrapped in a layer of white mist-like spiritual energy; the interior was invisible.
"Immortal demons? What are they using to cultivate? It doesn't seem to be primordial spirit energy," Chen Yuxi noted.
"Indeed. This must be the cultivation method of the Immortal Realm. Could it be that the dense, inexhaustible spiritual energy in Yinque Palace is produced by the Immortal Realm itself?" Lin Feng was shocked, gazing down at his feet in horror.
"The jade floor!" the three whispered simultaneously.
When they first entered the abode, no one had paid attention to the jade floor. They were neither primordial spirit stones nor common jade, and had been overlooked from the beginning.
Leng Linglan and the others heard their conversation, each staring at the jade beneath their feet, hoping to be the first to uncover the mystery.
Now, everyone’s attention shifted downward. They suddenly recalled that during the fierce battle earlier, not a single piece of jade had been damaged—an almost impossible feat. These stones were incredibly sturdy, white and flawless, each perfectly square and fitted together seamlessly.
Daoist Xu Ci tapped one piece gently. Hearing nothing, he glanced at Shang Rong and the others, then produced a thin blade and attempted to insert it into the seam.
Suddenly, Shang Rong appeared before Xu Ci, seized him by the collar, and threw him straight out of Yinque Palace toward the palace walls!
"No!" Daoist Xu Ci’s shrill cry still echoed, but he had already vanished.
"Hmph!" Shang Rong waved his hand coldly, and everyone’s expressions froze.
Probing any item here would result in being cast out of Yinque Palace. This was his warning.
Shang Rong sat back down. Everyone looked at each other, none daring to speak.
"Let’s cultivate. The spiritual energy here is much richer than outside; it will save us many primordial spirit stones," Chen Yuxi said quietly before walking away.
Che Ba also sighed, sat to one side, glanced at the abode once more, and closed his eyes to cultivate.
"Heh, cultivate. Cultivate until we reach the Nascent Soul," Yuan Qianzi rasped, let out a dry laugh, and then—stared blankly.
Leng Linglan looked up at the sky, which was a vast, gray void. She exhaled slightly, closed her eyes, and began to cultivate.
"There is no chance left. With Shang Rong here, every move is under his surveillance. Even if I knew where the treasure was, I couldn't shatter it..." Lin Feng felt disheartened. Suddenly, he caught a glimpse of something. "Shang Rong serves the Immortal Gongshu as his master; he would not go against his master's will. Therefore, the treasure wouldn't be hidden in these statues or pavilions, but..."
"Right under our noses! Yes! I’ve gone in a circle and returned to the beginning. The treasure must be somewhere in this palace, visible the moment one looks up... looking up..." A light flashed in his eyes as he stared at the strange "sky."
There was no sun, no clouds, just a vast, gray, boundless expanse.
"That is where the problem lies!" Suppressing his excitement, he stood up, rose into the air, and flew slowly toward the gray sky, his eyes nervously watching Shang Rong for any reaction.
Che Ba, Chen Yuxi, and the others opened their eyes one after another, watching Lin Feng with astonishment.
Seeing that Shang Rong made no move, Lin Feng became even more certain. When he reached a height of over ten zhang, he was blocked by an invisible membrane. He extended his hand, feeling along the invisible barrier. A vast, curved sky became increasingly clear, like mist being wiped from a mirror—crystal clear, reflecting the entire Yinque Palace!
"Congratulations. After three thousand years, the unique treasure of Yinque Palace finally has a new master." As the voice of the Immortal Gongshu echoed, the figures of Leng Linglan and the others gradually faded, vanishing from Yinque Palace like passing wind.
Shang Rong, Man Qing, and the others watched Lin Feng with smiles.
In mid-air, the misty fog dispersed, and a rippling water-like disc hovered before Lin Feng, its cold light piercing his spirit. The disc was thin, like white jade yet resembling silver sand. It had no decorations, and the water rippling within was only an inch deep, yet it seemed unfathomably profound, as if it could draw one's soul inside.
"This high-grade immortal artifact is named the 'Water Mirror Disc.' You can traverse through it to reach Yinque Palace. When you can fully master this treasure, Yinque Palace will belong to you—including, of course, Shang Rong and the others."
"What!" Lin Feng was so excited he dared not even breathe. Being able to traverse Yinque Palace at will meant possessing cultivation speeds several times faster than others. More terrifyingly, he had the chance to command Shang Rong, Man Qing, and these "immortal demons" whose strength was beyond comprehension. In the entire cultivation world, was there anything he could not achieve? Was the heavens truly looking out for him?
