Chapter 108: The Spoils of War
Not only were the elite soldiers thrown into panic, even Uncle Kong's expression shifted slightly, and the five armored guards instinctively held their breath. Only Ao Jinyu appeared somewhat composed, for the current situation was far better than before. She was willing to believe that Liu Ping would not harm them.
The pale blue divine demon, clad in full armor adorned with countless intricate patterns, fixed its deep blue eyes intently on the five squads of elite soldiers.
They dared not meet its gaze.
“A bunch of worthless scum,” it sneered.
Yet, a cornered beast will fight back fiercely when pushed to the limit. Although these were immortal human soldiers and their situation was dire, hearing this insult stirred most of them out of their fear.
Gritting his teeth, the war general Huadu waved his large banner and shouted, “How could they be scum? Charge with me! Cross Charge!”
“Yes!” Most responded to the call, tightening their grip on their weapons, eager to counterattack.
Everything unfolded exactly as Liu Ping anticipated. He would not give them a chance. Before their formation could be fully gathered, he opened his mouth wide and exhaled a fierce blue breath.
“Whoosh!”
The blue breath churned and surged through the air, transforming within moments into a torrential rain. The raindrops merged, becoming countless water serpents, dense and uncountable, diving down. In an instant, the united forces of these elite soldiers were utterly shattered, and their will completely broken.
Ling’er scoffed disdainfully, “Such worthless trash dare to call themselves warriors? How utterly laughable. And this flood dragon, truly not tough—just a few falls and it’s half dead. How boring.”
Liu Ping replied, “After all, it’s just from the water deity lineage, skilled in rain matters. As for battle, how could it compare to those heavenly gods who master this art?”
Ling’er said, “That’s not so. In ancient times, these true dragons were unmatched in strength; they have simply declined now... But setting that aside, the weapons of those soldiers can be refined and made into Daoist weapon wings. Young master, you should collect them quickly.”
Liu Ping nodded. “That is my plan as well.”
“Disarm and surrender, and you shall live!” The divine demon bowed its head and spoke in a deep, penetrating voice that sent a shiver through the hearts of many soldiers present. After the previous battle, they found it impossible to summon any fighting spirit. This was precisely Liu Ping’s intention—to break their will.
Upon hearing this, their heads drooped in despair, and they surrendered their weapons.
---
Transferring the weapons into the treasure pouch, Liu Ping exhaled as the divine demon’s form instantly vanished.
His face was slightly pale. He quickly swallowed two pills. Nearby, Uncle Kong and Ao Jinyu regarded him with the wary eyes reserved for strangers, and Ao Jinyu asked, “Why are you looking at me like that?”
Ao Jinyu said, “I just didn’t expect Young Master Liu to be so formidable.”
Uncle Kong nodded in deep agreement. This fellow was simply too powerful—an anomaly beyond reason.
Hearing the praise from the charming girl, Liu Ping felt a slight joy and smiled, “Just ordinary.” Then he asked, “I couldn’t find anything on that dragon. Do you know how dragons hide their possessions? I wonder if there’s a teleportation token... and any loot.”
Ao Jinyu replied, “I’ll go have a look.”
Ao Jinyu went to search for the loot while Liu Ping sat down to begin refining the weapons one by one. Most of the elite soldiers were first-stage immortal humans, their weapons not as powerful as the magical tools his senior sister had given him, but still passable. He had ordered them to remove their master’s mark, so the refining process was quite rapid.
Five squads totaling two hundred fifty soldiers meant two hundred fifty weapons. Although Liu Ping refined swiftly, it was not something he could finish immediately.
Uncle Kong couldn’t help but ask, “Is it alright to just leave those defeated soldiers squatting over there?”
Liu Ping replied calmly, “Defeated troops cannot be called brave. Moreover, these cowards have lost their will to fight; without fighting spirit, they can accomplish nothing.”
Seeing Liu Ping’s casual appraisal, Uncle Kong was startled and secretly impressed, curiosity swelling within him. Who exactly was this mysterious figure? Suddenly, he recalled the man’s earlier disheveled state and wondered: who had inflicted such wounds upon him?
Liu Ping was unaware of Uncle Kong’s thoughts and kept his head down, steadily refining weapons. He had a strong premonition that this battle was merely an inconspicuous beginning.
Soon, Ao Jinyu returned carrying a large pile of loot.
She had never done anything like this before. Her small, cute face was brimming with excitement as she hurried to Liu Ping’s side, saying, “Young Master Liu, I’m back! There’s no teleportation token, but there’s quite a lot of good stuff.”
A first-stage Earth Immortal’s collection, even the items carried on their person, were undoubtedly valuable.
“Oh?” Liu Ping opened his eyes upon hearing this and looked at the items in Ao Jinyu’s arms with delight. “There really is quite a lot.”
---
A large heap of precious items lay together, emitting a faint spiritual glow, quite impressive. Among them, three or four objects shone with extraordinary treasure light, exceptionally rare.
Taking out three or four pill bottles, Liu Ping smiled. These were supreme pills for strengthening the foundation and nurturing vitality. Without hesitation, he swallowed two and then stored the rest. Suddenly, he looked up at Ao Jinyu, who was watching him intently, and asked, “Is there anything you want? You can pick some.”
He was never a stingy person. Without her, none of this would be possible, so he would not begrudge her.
“May I?” Ao Jinyu asked curiously.
“Of course,” Liu Ping nodded.
Ao Jinyu pondered briefly before selecting a pale blue jade pendant. “I want this.”
“Oh.” Liu Ping was somewhat surprised. The jade pendant was translucent and faintly imbued with spiritual energy, quite beautiful, but its quality was mediocre—among the loot, it ranked near the bottom and was nothing extraordinary. Seeing Ao Jinyu’s satisfied expression, he was puzzled. Had he misjudged it?
What he did not know was that Ao Jinyu, cherished like a gem since childhood and born to nobility, had seen countless treasures. Her satisfaction stemmed merely from the thrill of snatching goods from the hands of villains. Even if the quality was low, it was enough to please her.
Liu Ping lowered his head to continue examining the items. Suddenly, his pupils contracted slightly as he grasped a life-saving talisman. It could unleash a full Earth Immortal’s strike briefly and was very powerful. However, Ao Hong had been knocked unconscious before he could use it. Liu Ping felt relieved at his good fortune.
The rest were ordinary pills without anything remarkable. Liu Ping accepted them one by one. There was also a magical tool shaped like a small bowl, exquisitely carved with flowers, birds, fish, and insects. Unfortunately, it was Ao Hong’s life-bound magical tool containing his divine consciousness. Even if he became an Earth Immortal, Liu Ping could not use it unless he reached godhood—and gods would never bother with such low-grade items. After some thought, Liu Ping destroyed it.
Without spiritual energy to activate it, most magical tools, unless very rare, were easily destroyed. Nearby, the half-dead Ao Hong groaned unconsciously and slipped into a deeper coma.
“What is this...” Liu Ping held a small treasure box in his palm and slowly opened it, unable to hide his surprise.
“Ah!”
