Chapter 85: The Super Skeleton Warrior
Li Yunfei walked toward one of the skeletal warriors. However, as soon as he moved, the skeletal warriors maintained their protective formation, keeping him at the center as they shifted with him.
Slightly exasperated, Li Yunfei used his spiritual sense to command one of the skeletal warriors to remain where it was.
He stepped forward, grasped the bone sabre in the skeleton’s hand, and with a thought, made the skeleton release its grip.
Weighing the bone sabre in his hand, Li Yunfei found it light—less than two catties.
He gripped the hilt with one hand, pinched the blade with the other, and bent it lightly.
With a crisp snap, the sabre broke in two.
Li Yunfei stared in mute disbelief at the broken sabre in his hand. This useless thing—how could it kill anyone in battle?
Human bone has a Mohs hardness of only 3 to 4, while iron is about 4 to 5, and steel is at least 6 or higher. Each level of Mohs hardness is four times stronger than the last.
Such a weapon would break instantly upon contact with a steel weapon.
Li Yunfei purchased a common boar-tusk scimitar from the system shop and placed it in the skeleton warrior’s hand. Though this scimitar lacked the blade aura of the Rending Tusk Scimitar, its hardness and sharpness were much the same.
The skeleton warrior had no spiritual power, so the blade aura was useless to it.
Li Yunfei opened his attribute panel and noticed a new row of skull icons at the bottom, each labeled “Recall.”
These skeletons also had their own attribute statuses. Focusing on one skull icon, he tapped it with his mind.
With a flash, the skeleton’s attribute panel unfolded, its details simple and clear:
Skeleton Warrior: Level 1, Experience 0%, Physical Strength 3 (5), Soul Strength 1 (3)
The state of these ghostly servants was measured by a different system—the numbers in parentheses represented the values for an ordinary living person, while the others showed the skeleton’s.
It was clear, then, that these skeletons’ basic attributes were even weaker than a living person’s—after all, they had no flesh or muscle.
Sixty percent of the body’s strength comes from bone, the remaining forty from muscle, tendons, and fascia.
Muscle also cushions blows and protects the bones from harm.
Without muscle, they immediately lose forty percent of their strength. Unless bone density is increased, or even the molecular structure changed, strength cannot be enhanced.
Without muscle to absorb impact, their defense is nearly zero.
After all, bones are not a single piece but a framework of many connected parts.
Attacking a skeleton doesn’t require breaking the bones—just dislocating the joints is enough to make it collapse.
Dislocating joints is much easier than causing a fracture.
Li Yunfei’s eyes flickered as he examined the skeleton’s two attributes. Since the skeleton’s stats were determined only by physical and soul strength, then…
On impulse, he bought a Blood Pill from the system shop, dragged it to Skeleton No. 1’s icon, and clicked use.
Staring intently at the skeleton’s physical strength value, he was overjoyed to see it instantly jump to 13 (5).
It worked—unbelievably, it actually worked!
Li Yunfei looked at the skeleton before him but noticed no change. What was going on?
Looking around in confusion, he finally realized the problem.
The skeleton in front of him stood directly in the center, while the others, not under his control, shifted whenever he moved.
Skeleton No. 1 was the first on the left in front of him, half a zhang away. Now, that skeleton was visibly different from the rest.
Its bones gleamed with a luster, no longer that ghastly pale.
Greatly encouraged, Li Yunfei directed Skeleton No. 1 to turn and approach him, then fed it four more Blood Pills in quick succession.
Its physical strength soared to 53 (5), ten times that of a normal person.
The skeleton’s bones transitioned from bright white to a silvery sheen with a metallic glow, and finally to an almost crystalline appearance.
Its stature also increased significantly, reaching nearly two meters in height.
Now, Skeleton No. 1’s body looked as if sculpted from diamond, exquisite as a work of art.
But Li Yunfei knew it was not diamond, but a crystal harder than diamond itself.
Taking the scimitar—likely from Skeleton No. 2—from in front of him, he slashed at Skeleton No. 1’s arm.
With a ringing clang and a shower of sparks, Skeleton No. 1 was unharmed, while the boar-tusk scimitar was chipped.
“Hahaha! Now this is a skeleton warrior worth using! I truly am a genius!”
“Yiyi… (Master, with these skeletons, fighting will be so much easier for us in the future.)”
“Exactly!”
Unable to restrain his joy, Li Yunfei laughed to the heavens while the little fox leapt and skipped with delight.
After a while, he calmed himself, purchased forty-five more Blood Pills, fed five to each skeleton warrior, then bought and distributed a hundred Soul Pills.
After consuming the Soul Pills, the soul flames in the skeleton warriors’ eyes shifted from a ghostly green to a deep emerald, and finally, when the color reached its deepest, faded to gold.
With diamond-like bodies and golden soul flames dancing in their eyes, even the once unchanged bone sabres now emitted a faint golden glow.
That was the blade aura formed when the skeleton warriors infused their weapons with soul power. Now, these skeleton warriors had long-range attack abilities.
The bone sabres, after all, were external items, not part of the skeletons themselves, so while the skeletons’ physical and soul strength grew with the pills, the bone sabres were not strengthened.
Now, the skeleton warriors’ stats were: Level 1, Experience 0%, Physical Strength 53 (5), Soul Strength 31 (3).
From the start, they were ten times stronger than ordinary people, and best of all, since they had levels, they could continue to grow.
His next step, naturally, was to tackle a level 32 dungeon. With such low-level minions in such a high-level dungeon, how could their experience not skyrocket?
Who knew how many attribute points each level up would bring? No matter what, he now had ten super-strong enforcers at his disposal.
What’s more, they were absolutely loyal and would never betray him.
As his own cultivation advanced, the number he could command would only increase.
Li Yunfei ordered all of them to discard their bone sabres, even reclaiming the boar-tusk scimitars.
Now, with each skeleton warrior standing over two meters tall, anything less than a guandao would be an insult to their physique.
He purchased ten Rending Tusk Guandaos from the system shop. With a tap on each skeleton warrior’s icon, the weapons appeared automatically in their hands.
He then bought ten sets of Astral Armor for them.
Thus equipped, they were fully encased in armor, complete with inner lining and gloves.
The elbows, knees, and hands—normally exposed—were all covered.
Only their eyes remained visible, twin golden flames flickering in the darkness where their pupils would be. Aside from this, they looked no different from living warriors clad in full armor.
Unless they removed their armor and helmets, no one would suspect that these were skeletons.
At this point, Li Yunfei no longer cared about spending money—he had 990 tons of spirit stones in reserve. To exhaust such a fortune would take ages.
As long as his strength and foundation improved, he wouldn’t mind spending every last stone.
After all, the Jackal-Wolf Clan’s lair still contained an entire spirit stone mine, just waiting for him!
