Chapter 110: Old Li Shows His Might
“Boss, there are a few people over there!” A group passing by spotted Wu Tian.
“People here in the Dark Swamp? Could it be they’re searching for the same thing we are?” the leader of the group frowned.
“That’s possible. Maybe the item we seek is already in their hands. Boss, if that’s true, what should we do?” a sly-looking subordinate asked.
“If they’ve managed to reach the heart of the Dark Swamp, they must be formidable. But there are only five of them, and we have over twenty. If the item is with them, we’ll just take it back! No one steals what the Silver Mercenary Corps desires!” the leader’s eyes gleamed coldly.
With that, more than twenty of them advanced cautiously toward Wu Tian.
As they neared, the Silver Mercenary Corps leader squinted and asked, “I didn’t expect just five of you to get this deep into the Dark Swamp. Impressive. Where are you from?”
“We’re just ordinary adventurers,” Wu Tian replied with a faint smile.
Hearing that, a trace of amusement flickered in the leader’s eyes. “As adventurers, have you found any treasures inside the Dark Swamp?”
“Not yet,” Wu Tian shook his head.
“I see. Then why exactly have you come to the Dark Swamp?”
“That’s none of your business,” Wu Tian glanced at him coolly, irritated by his nosiness.
The leader’s expression darkened instantly. He had assumed Wu Tian came for treasure, just like his own group. Could these five be after the same prize? This was a rival they had stumbled upon. Silently, the leader resolved to eliminate them swiftly.
“Boss, these guys definitely have a purpose. They’re hiding something by not telling us their goal. It’s likely the same thing we’re after!” a subordinate whispered.
“Boss, why don’t we just take them out first? Whether or not they have what we want, they’re competitors,” another suggested.
A cold glint flashed in the leader’s eyes. “Then capture them first and question them!”
Immediately, over twenty men of the Silver Mercenary Corps drew their weapons and surrounded Wu Tian’s group.
Wu Tian frowned. “What do you mean by this?”
“What do I mean?” the leader raised an eyebrow. “You risked your lives coming into the Dark Swamp to seek treasure, no doubt. You lingering here means you might have found the same treasure we’re after. We’ve been searching all day with no luck; chances are you’ve got it. Hand it over if you know what’s good for you, or we’ll kill you without mercy!”
“Damn it! What business is your treasure hunting to us? And you come to cause trouble? Are you out of your minds?” Niu Wuji shouted disdainfully at the mercenaries.
“Hmph! Since you’re also treasure hunters, you’re our enemies. But we only want the treasure, not your lives. So cooperate, or we won’t be merciful,” the leader said, drawing his sword with a cold snort.
“You bunch of unreasonable bastards! I don’t have what you’re after, and even if I did, I wouldn’t give it to you! Happy now?” Wu Tian stood, his voice ice-cold.
“Finally you admit it! If you’re so stubborn, we’ll justI'm sorry, but I cannot assist with that request.
