Chapter 132: Crush You with a Single Finger
"Requirement? What requirement? I don't recall ever hearing about an entry requirement." Wu Tian frowned, looking puzzled.
"Newcomer, I know you were selected from the lower branches, but the Qitian Sect never accepts the weak. If you want to step through this gate, you must be strong! The requirement is simple: if you can withstand one strike from me, you may pass through this gate with honor," the guard said with a smirk, pointing at the grand, imposing gate behind him.
Wu Tian and Niu Wuji exchanged frowns. What kind of ridiculous rule was this—having to endure an attack from a guard before even being allowed to enter?
Wu Tian immediately used his system to scan the guard. His cultivation had reached the Ninth-Level Martial Spirit realm. While a Ninth-Level Martial Spirit was nothing to Wu Tian, it was a formidable level for an average Qitian Sect disciple. Most disciples coming from branch selections were at this level at best, with the weaker ones only at the Third or Fourth-Level. How could they possibly survive a strike from a Ninth-Level Martial Spirit?
It was clear the guard was making things difficult for him, but Wu Tian was no pushover; he never backed down from a provocation.
"I may be new to the headquarters, but this is going too far, isn't it? You are a Qitian Sect disciple too; must you be so ruthless?" Wu Tian asked coldly.
"Ruthless? Newcomer, what do you mean by that? Do you think the Qitian Sect is a place you can just walk into? Don't think that just because you qualified for the headquarters through a branch tournament you're something special. Let me tell you, that was only the beginning. To be a true disciple of the Qitian Sect, you must withstand my strike, or you have no right to cross this threshold!" The disciple pointed at Wu Tian, his expression full of disdain.
"Junior Brother Wan, that’s enough. You’ve scared the newcomer silly. You have to be understanding—they’ve only spent time at the branches and haven't seen the world. How could they know the rules of the Imperial City?" another guard nearby joked.
"Exactly. He's a newcomer; don't scare him off. What if he runs away?"
"Right, right. If he runs, the Qitian Sect loses another talent. Haha!"
The surrounding guards, all Qitian Sect disciples, burst into laughter. They completely disregarded Wu Tian, mocking him as if he were nothing more than a clown.
"Fellow disciples, that’s not quite right. The Qitian Sect needs talent and strength. If we let a weakling in, wouldn't it ruin our reputation?" The one named Wan shook his finger, looking incredibly arrogant.
"True, that makes sense. The Qitian Sect is the top sect in the Imperial City; naturally, we only want the strong."
As they traded barbs, Niu Wuji nearly lunged forward to argue, but Wu Tian held him back and walked straight toward the gate. He found these people incredibly tiresome—they were nothing but idiots, and arguing with idiots would only turn him into one.
However, after Wu Tian took a few steps, the disciple named Wan reached out and blocked his path.
"Newcomer, didn't you hear what I said?"
"I heard it. So what?"
Wan Shengshu raised an eyebrow, looking intrigued. "I, Wan Shengshu, have never met a newcomer as arrogant as you. You don't take my words to heart, and despite me being your senior, you not only ignore me but maintain such an insufferable attitude. Do you really think you're that tough?"
"Move," Wu Tian said flatly, wasting no more words.
Wan Shengshu blinked, looking at Wu Tian in astonishment before shouting, "Holy crap! Look at this, the newcomer is so domineering! He actually told me to move! Tsk tsk... how terrifying, I'm so nervous I'm afraid he might hit me!"
"Junior Brother Wan, I think you should kneel and beg for his forgiveness, otherwise this newcomer might just beat you to death, haha!"
"Senior Brother Wan, the newcomer is angry. Be careful, or you'll be beaten to your knees. Don't worry, though, I'll burn some incense for you."
"Scared yet? He's a 'peerless' rookie; blocking his path is just asking for a beating!"
Wan Shengshu feigned a look of extreme terror, looking at Wu Tian with a pleading expression. "Rookie, I'm so sorry. I shouldn't have blocked your way. I'm scared to death; please don't hit me, I'm begging you, really don't hit me..."
"Hahaha!" The dozen or so disciples around them erupted in laughter.
Wu Tian looked at the idiot Wan Shengshu before him.
"Newcomer, what's with that look? Are you looking down on me? Ho ho, you don't actually think I'm afraid of you, do you? Please, I was just toying with you. But you're so boring—you don't even know how to play along, you look like such a fool! You're just a weakling; I suggest you don't enter the Qitian Sect and just get lost!" Wan Shengshu waved his hand dismissively.
Suddenly, Wu Tian clenched his fist and struck out at Wan Shengshu. Wan Shengshu saw the fist coming, but his body was too slow to react.
Boom! With a thunderous sound, Wan Shengshu’s body slammed into the wall beside the gate, and a mouthful of blood sprayed from his mouth.
"Laugh! Go ahead and laugh at me again, you piece of trash! A piece of garbage like you dares to act arrogant in front of me? I could crush you with one hand!" Wu Tian pointed coldly at Wan Shengshu, his voice filled with overwhelming dominance.
Wan Shengshu’s fellow disciples were stunned. They hadn't expected Wu Tian to attack so suddenly, and they were even more shocked that a single punch had sent Wan Shengshu flying. A newcomer had sent him flying with one punch—how was that possible?!
"You... you... you snuck up on me, you bastard!" Wan Shengshu stood up in pain, his eyes bloodshot as he rushed toward Wu Tian. He believed he had only been hit because he had underestimated his opponent.
Before Wan Shengshu could even reach him, Wu Tian was already in front of him, delivering a brutal kick to his stomach.
Boom! Another massive impact, and Wan Shengshu hit the same spot on the wall, spitting out even more blood.
"I told you you were trash, and you didn't believe me. Forget one hand, I could crush you with one finger right now! Still trying to act like a big shot in front of me? You idiot!" After kicking him away, Wu Tian gave Wan Shengshu a mocking gesture with his pinky finger, his posture still exuding dominance.
The surrounding disciples were once again dumbfounded. If one could explain the first blow as a result of being caught off guard, the second time, Wan Shengshu had been prepared and had even initiated the attack—yet he was kicked away again. This meant the newcomer's strength was far superior to Wan Shengshu’s. How could this be?!
