Chapter 125: Relic... or Hell
The pitch-black portal rumbled as Ye Feng’s blood surged into it. Before Ye Feng could regain his senses, a tearing force gripped him, swiftly pulling him inside.
“Blood!” The dark portal twisted, echoing Ye Feng’s words. In less than a breath, the portal gradually calmed.
“Quick, cut your palm! The portal needs blood to activate!” Xiao Ye took the lead, swiftly slashing his palm and pressing it against the portal.
A hum arose.
Like Ye Feng, in the blink of an eye, the blood on Xiao Ye’s hand was completely absorbed. As the portal contorted with waves of distortion, Xiao Ye was drawn in as well.
...
After a dizzying spell, Ye Feng opened his eyes.
Looking around, all that met his gaze was dimness. The salty sea breeze brushed past him, and distant waves crashing against the shore confirmed where he was.
The sky was gray and somber.
The turbulent sea mercilessly pounded the coast with deafening roars.
A chilling wind howled through the air, adding an eerie gloom to this strange place.
Ye Feng stepped forward cautiously.
Crunch.
He heard the sound of stepping on something hard. Looking down...
“Damn...” Ye Feng recoiled in horror. Beneath his feet lay a human skull. Further ahead, the beach was littered with countless bones scattered in disarray, while rusted swords and blades lay strewn nearby.
A mournful wind stirred fiercely.
The howling grew more intense, the eerie sounds causing shivers down Ye Feng’s spine.
Smack.
A wave crashed against the shore. Instinctively, Ye Feng looked out to sea. “My God... why is the water red?”
Even with his experience from two lives, Ye Feng was shaken by this grim scene.
Suddenly, amid the endless sea of blood, an island appeared faintly, wavering in and out of sight.
The wind howled louder still, now mingled with sinister laughter.
Heh heh...
The laughter grew clearer, making Ye Feng’s scalp tingle.
Crunch, crunch...
Accompanied by the terrifying laughter, the skeletons on the ground began to stir and move.
It was a dreadful sight: the blood-red beach stained by the crimson sea, the raging wind howling violently, and the ground densely scattered with white bones. The blood-like waves roared as they battered the shore.
“Give me back my life...”
From the void, the chilling laughter and dreadful cries for souls made Ye Feng feel as if he had stepped into a living hell.
Groups of skeletons slowly rose, clutching rusted swords and blades, advancing step by step toward Ye Feng. Beneath the soft sand, countless more bones emerged, clawing their way out.
“Damn it! What kind of place have I ended up in?”
Ye Feng quickly drew the Dragon Blade from his spatial ring and retreated to the edge of the beach.
Hum...
At that moment, ripples appeared in the void. Xiao Ye’s figure materialized, looking somewhat disheveled.
“My goodness...” Xiao Ye shook his dizzy head. Upon looking up and seeing the hellish scene before him, he nearly collapsed in shock.
“What... where exactly is this place?” The sand wriggled continuously as piles of dry bones crawled out. The howling wind and eerie atmosphere left Xiao Ye pale and trembling as he asked.
Buzz, buzz...
Low, ominous hums filled the air as members of the Heavenly King Alliance were swiftly transported here one after another. When they saw the skeletons, they were terrified, shouting in alarm.
“Let me see what kind of monsters you really are!” Ye Feng roared, wielding his broken blade. The dragon spirit surged as he swiftly charged forward, slashing at the skeleton horde.
Clang... clang...
A clash of metal rang out.
Ye Feng was stunned to discover that the indestructible Dragon Blade left not even a trace on the fragile-looking skeletons.
“Dragon Grasp!”
Swiftly sheathing the Dragon Blade back into his ring, Ye Feng gathered dragon energy into his left hand, then thrust out a fierce, dark-golden palm strike.
Boom...
Skeletons were blasted away one by one. But to everyone’s astonishment, the moment they hit the ground, those skeletons rose again as if nothing had happened, slowly advancing toward Ye Feng.
“G-ghosts...!”
Some screamed and scrambled backward, only to find an invisible barrier behind them, trapping them on this horrifying island.
“What do we do? The Sanctum’s people will be here any moment!” Xiao Ye said grimly, looking at Ye Feng.
“Move along the shore, follow me!” With enemies behind and skeletons ahead, Ye Feng had no choice but to pick a direction and lead everyone away.
They suspected their current spot was the portal’s entrance. If the Sanctum forces arrived, they would be caught between the skeletons and the enemy.
Boom...
Suddenly, heavy thunder rolled through the dark clouds. Spatial rifts capable of devouring all things appeared out of nowhere in the distance.
Less than a hundred meters from where Ye Feng and the others had moved, a massive group of skeletons reached the far edge of the beach.
“Spirit Emperor in front, others fall back. Form two horizontal lines. Conserve your spiritual energy and push the skeletons back! Don’t act recklessly—these creatures’ bodies are incredibly tough and can’t be killed easily,” Ye Feng commanded as he struck a skeleton forward with a palm blast.
“Devils... ah...!”
At the spot where Ye Feng’s group had stood, a young man from the Sanctum who had just arrived was surrounded by a dozen skeletons before he could even take in the scene.
The skeletons mechanically swung their rusted blades, cutting the youth into a bloody pulp.
Dark clouds shrouded the sky; fierce winds swept across the land; and thunder roared from the gloomy heavens.
Countless bones littered the shore, blood waves surged endlessly.
“Give me back my life...” The chilling voice echoed through the wind and void, freezing everyone to the bone.
Crunch, crunch...
Skeletons slowly rose from the dark-red sand. Even more emerged from deeper beneath the ground.
Clutching rusted weapons, the first skeletons to stand advanced step by step toward the group.
Bang...
One skeleton was blasted dozens of meters away. On the Sanctum’s side, Xing Yun had teleported in, stabilizing their position.
“Oh my heavens! That was a half-step Spirit Emperor’s strike, and it didn’t even leave a scratch on that skeleton!” members of the Heavenly King Alliance stared in disbelief. The blasted skeleton wobbled and stood again.
Seeing how resilient the skeleton was, Sha Mo chuckled darkly, grasped his massive hammer, gathered all his spiritual power, and charged fiercely at the skeleton.
“Sha Mo, stop!” Ye Feng shouted in alarm, rushing forward.
Bang...
What shocked Ye Feng was Sha Mo’s violent hammer strike shattered the skeleton into countless small white fragments that scattered across the sand.
But even then, the nightmare was far from over...
