Chapter Twenty-Five: Reunion with the Black Python Demon King
Ye Feng’s words were nothing short of a thunderous shock. In this city, the Innate-level cultivators stood at the pinnacle of power. Even the elders of the three great clans were barely at the Postnatal stage. Yet now, he was planning to create Postnatal-level experts in bulk.
...
The night passed without incident. Early the next morning, Ye Feng left with his bundle slung over his shoulder. Only a handful of people knew about this journey; no one else had been alerted. As for the transfer of resources from the Zhou and Yuan families, that would erupt in full force today. After tonight, the Zhou and Yuan families would be erased from the city forever.
The sky had not yet fully brightened. The path leading to the Falling Wild Goose Mountains was quiet and deserted. Ye Feng rode a tall horse, while the monkey sat astride Ye Feng’s shoulders, ambling along at a leisurely pace.
“Senior, the ‘domain’ I entered a few days ago—was its master truly so powerful?” As Ye Feng swayed on the road, he simultaneously let his consciousness sink into the starry sea of his spiritual clouds, gazing at the demon king’s core nestled at their very center.
“Boy, do you realize how much stronger your human race is compared to us demon beasts?” The Dragon Flood’s voice echoed from the dilapidated chaos-space. Without waiting for Ye Feng’s reply, he continued, “Let me tell you! The difference is like heaven and earth. Even at the height of my might, humanity could have wiped out our demon beast kind with a flick of the wrist. Yet, why have demon beasts survived until now?”
“Huh? Could it be… because of the master of that ‘domain’?” Ye Feng, hearing this, glanced inconspicuously at the monkey perched on his shoulder and replied in his mind.
“Correct! I don’t know how you managed to enter that sanctuary unscathed, but since you have this ability, you’ll need to help me.” As he spoke, a powerful force pulled Ye Feng’s mind into the chaos-space.
Within the chaos-space, the scene was one of utter ruin. The gray murk had thickened, and from the depths of space came peals of thunder and flashes of lightning. Fissures in space silently opened and closed, making the place terrifying beyond compare.
“By using my core to awaken your spirit, you’ve drained my source power. The ‘domain’ I just managed to carve out will likely collapse back into chaos within a few months. When that happens, I’ll be finished too!” The Dragon Flood’s shadowy figure hovered in the void, his voice tinged with weariness and age.
Ye Feng stood frozen, shocked once again. He felt a deep sense of guilt toward the Dragon Flood King: not only had he interrupted its rebirth, but he’d also used its core to empower himself, giving him the strength to destroy the Grand Elder and his ilk. Now, because of him, the Dragon Flood King was on the verge of annihilation, leaving Ye Feng at a loss.
Suddenly, Ye Feng recalled something the Dragon Flood King had said and quickly asked, “Senior, how can I help you?”
Seeing Ye Feng’s guileless expression, the weary Dragon Flood King finally eased his mind and spoke, “Within that sanctuary lies a celestial fruit called the ‘Primordial Spirit Fruit.’ Just one is enough for me to halt the encroaching chaos and even evolve this place anew.”
“Hm? Someone is coveting my demon beast clan again…” Suddenly, the Dragon Flood King’s eyes flashed with golden light, shooting far into the distance—it was the ‘Violet Gold Eyes’ technique Ye Feng had learned.
Ye Feng snapped his consciousness back and looked up in confusion.
Not far away, two or three hundred meters ahead, a colossal black python, easily a hundred meters long, was weaving through the air. Its gray eyes glowed like lanterns. Massive black scales, each the size of a washbasin, covered its body, glimmering with a chilling luster in the sunlight.
“That’s the Black Python King. Since I withdrew from the world, it succeeded me as the demon king, its power unfathomable. Why is it here, fighting humans?” The Dragon Flood King frowned deeply as he spoke.
The Black Python King was an apex predator among demon beasts, a true summit of the pyramid. It should have been guarding the heart of the Falling Wild Goose Mountains, but to appear here could only mean the demon beasts had suffered some grave calamity.
Ye Feng was stunned as well. Was this the diamond-crowned middle-aged man he had once fooled? How had he managed to trick even such a being…? But why was he here?
The next moment, Ye Feng learned the reason.
Hovering opposite the Black Python King was an old man in black robes, standing proudly in the sky. The wind howled, making his robe billow, yet he stood straight as a spear, unmoved by the gale.
His gaze locked onto the Black Python King. “You’d best come quietly with me! To serve the ‘Sanctuary’ should be honor enough for you.”
A furious roar was the only reply. Then, incredibly, the Black Python King spoke in human words: “Calling yourself ‘old man’ in front of me… aren’t you ashamed? You think I’ve grown feeble just because I haven’t fought in years? Very well, today I’ll make an example of you, to warn your arrogant human kind!”
Roaring, the giant python’s body suddenly surged forward, unleashing a terrifying pressure. Even from hundreds of meters away, Ye Feng felt unable to breathe, his legs going weak.
“So this is the true aura of a demon king!” Quickly, Ye Feng activated the demon king’s core within him, offsetting the oppressive force from above.
The moment the dreadful pressure vanished, the monkey on his shoulder glanced at Ye Feng, then waved away the white mist that had begun to gather around its claws. Judging by its disgruntled expression, it seemed vexed that Ye Feng had intervened…
“Foolish beast! Today I’ll force you to submit!” In the sky, the black-robed elder stepped forward. Instantly, all the oppressive force dissipated.
“Sword Domain—Might.”
The elder brandished his longsword, unleashing a gigantic blade of energy dozens of meters long that tore through the sky, hacking down at the Black Python’s massive form.
The blade roared through the air, drawing in the spiritual energy of heaven and earth. In a matter of seconds, it swelled to over a hundred meters in length.
“So this is a true mystic art—using one’s own spiritual power to draw on the world’s energy to attack.” Ye Feng was lost in awe at the sight, his tone filled with longing.
Boom!
The Black Python made no attempt to dodge, letting the giant energy blade crash down upon its body. The sword beam exploded, sending a visible shockwave rippling outwards, pulverizing trees and boulders into drifting powder.
Yet, when the dust cleared, the Black Python King was still coiling vigorously in the sky, its obsidian scales shining blindingly with not a mark upon them.
