Chapter Seventy: The Furious Giant Ape
Chapter Seventy: The Enraged Giant Ape
Behind them, the pursuing assassins were all Spirit Emperor-level experts. Although Ye Feng’s Dragon Seizing Hand was powerful, he had been wounded by the black blade, and there were seven opponents. Clearly, his move was like a clay ox sinking into the sea, not even causing a ripple—at best, it only served to delay their advance.
Heaven-Opening Palm...
At the forefront of the seven assassins, one agile figure deftly avoided the reach of the Dragon Seizing Hand, then gathered energy into his palm and struck forward...
“Go!” Ye Feng, seeing there was no way to evade, immediately grabbed Princess Anran and forcefully threw her off the horse.
Boom...
Just as the two tumbled awkwardly onto the ground, the enormous palm descended, sending blood and flesh flying everywhere.
They scrambled to their feet, intending to flee. One assassin was already upon them, his longsword thrusting straight ahead, its fierce blade about to pierce Princess Anran.
Ye Feng did not hesitate; he stepped in front of her, unleashing his spirit power in a torrent. In the blink of an eye, he erected dozens of spirit barriers before him.
Shhhh...
The faint red sword light ripped through seven barriers in succession, finally dissipating.
Boom...
Ye Feng had only just wiped the cold sweat from his brow when a sharper sword light stabbed forward again. This time, luck was not on his side; the remaining barriers were pierced as easily as paper...
“Run!” With all his strength, he could only push Princess Anran away, as the fierce sword light already pierced through his abdomen.
In the distance, the sound of hooves thundered like muffled lightning, rushing toward them. Clearly, the assassination attempt had attracted attention.
The masked leader of the assassins glared coldly, then with a swing of his sword, drew it from Ye Feng’s abdomen, bringing a gleaming trail of blood.
Swish...
Before the assassin could strike again, a silver-white shadow streaked through the air, appearing before him with a flash, then swiftly pierced his throat.
At the same moment, the enraged roar of the giant ape echoed, rolling toward them. The distant air vibrated with a piercing rush—clearly, the giant ape was racing toward the scene.
The assassins hesitated. If they insisted on killing Ye Feng now, they would first have to deal with the silver monkey. Yet the terrifying giant ape was nearly upon them! Forget defeating the monkey—if the six remaining assassins tried to escape, their chances were slim.
The masked leader flashed a look of intense unwillingness, his gaze shifting several times before he finally muttered, “Retreat!”
The six assassins stepped back in unison, preparing to leap away. But just then, a cold voice sounded from behind: “After killing so many, you think you can just leave? Isn’t that too easy?”
Turning, they saw Ye Feng, blood-soaked and swaying, slowly approaching with a long blade in hand.
“Courting death!” Seeing Ye Feng’s stubbornness, one assassin raised his sword to charge.
“Fourth, go! If we don’t leave now, it’ll be too late.” The leader grabbed him and rushed toward the distance.
But after all the delay caused by Ye Feng, could they still escape?
They had barely taken a few steps when a gigantic figure suddenly appeared at the end of the street, blocking their path.
This man’s body was wreathed in dark red spirit light; his eyes, like two black pearls, gleamed with a bloodthirsty glow in the night. His explosive muscles bulged, radiating a force that made the six assassins’ scalps tingle at a glance.
Standing in the darkness, the giant’s nostrils flared, clearly unaccustomed to the rapid journey after just transforming into human form.
Explosion, power, bloodlust, fury... All these traits were fully manifested in the giant ape now in human guise.
His arrival stirred an infinite sense of sorrow and negativity in the hearts of those present. Even the long blade he held looked exceptionally lonely...
Princess Anran, seeing the giant, grasped at him like a drowning soul clutching the last straw, crying out, “Uncle, help! Ye Feng is dying!”
Ye Feng, stubborn as a cockroach, finally succumbed at these words, his vision blackening as he fainted.
Just before losing consciousness, Ye Er cursed inwardly: Why doesn’t anyone hope I’ll be alright?
The moment Princess Anran said Ye Feng was dying, the giant ape went berserk. In an instant, his clothes tore apart.
The next moment, a colossal golden ape three or four yards tall appeared before them.
Faced with this, the masked assassin’s expression changed dramatically, his pupils shrinking as he hastily stammered, “Our target isn’t that boy, he’s dying—ah...”
A palm the size of a palm leaf swept through the air, crashing heavily onto the assassin’s head. Clearly, in the face of the enraged giant ape, any explanation was utterly useless.
“Run!” The remaining five assassins’ faces changed, scattering in all directions to escape.
Roar...
The giant ape bellowed, but without any apparent movement, the five assassins were dragged back against their will. They struggled desperately, but could not control their retreating bodies.
Bloodlust flickered in the ape’s eyes; his whole body trembled uncontrollably. Before coming to the capital with Ye Feng, Fifth Master Ye had told him with calm indifference: If anything happened to Ye Feng, his own life would end as well.
Thinking of this, the giant ape gazed at the five assassins before him, his fury erupting as he growled, “My life, because of you ants, is about to end. Roar...”
As he roared, his massive fist crashed down, smashing an assassin’s head deep into his abdomen.
“That boy is under my protection, and you dare try to kill him... Roar...”
The giant ape’s head, as large as a basin, slammed into another assassin’s skull, splattering brain matter everywhere...
In his terror and rage, the giant ape couldn’t even muster the urge to eat. He only knew that his noble life was about to end because of these men.
“If you don’t save him, that boy will really die!” At this moment, a middle-aged man’s voice rang out from the air, trembling with fury, so loud it made the ape’s ears ache.
Bang bang bang...
In the next instant, the four remaining assassins’ organs shattered, blood seeping from their seven orifices as they collapsed lifelessly.
“He’s not dead? How am I supposed to save him? All I know is how to kill and eat, not save...” Like a dead tree revived, the giant ape quickly bounded to Ye Feng’s side, roaring in his deep, cavernous voice.
As the giant ape shouted in panic, a squad and the Ye family’s Golden Scale Guards arrived simultaneously.
“Hurry and save this boy, or I’ll eat you all!”
