Lin Lei immediately decided to help the werewolf.

Because Alfred said the spaceship had no fuel and couldn’t move now—so Lin Lei couldn’t snatch it away.

After Alfred left, Lin Lei was alone in the room.

“You’ve hit the jackpot,” the earring suddenly spoke. “If I weren’t by your side, helping the werewolves this time would have given the enemy a perfect excuse to exploit.”

Lin Lei chuckled: “It seems they don’t know you’re watching me, teacher.”

“...At least this proves that Valkyrie isn’t mingling with the demigods.”

The earring laughed. It didn’t think Lin Lei’s choice was wrong; the value of one spaceship was enough to justify the risk.

“I’ll notify Lin Wen and have him send people to help you. We’ll take care of the spaceship’s fuel—you just need to stall the dwarves there and don’t let them discover the spaceship.”

With the earring monitoring, Lin Lei’s innocence was hardly in doubt, but it had no intention of reporting to the dwarves or the alliance—at least until the forest elves managed to fly the spaceship away, Lin Lei would have to bear the blame for a while.

This world lacked the technology to build spaceships; the one Alfred mentioned was definitely one of the ancient war relics left behind by demons.

The last Elven King had originally intended to use these ships to launch a counterattack on the demon planet. However, most of the ships had been seized and sealed by the primal elves. The forest elves only had one spaceship used for migration, and it was destroyed in a war against dragons.

“Winnie will definitely be very interested in this spaceship. We have been quietly studying spaceships all along, and with this ship’s data, we might be able to build one ourselves,” the earring said happily.

It was also pleased for another reason: “That werewolf called Alfred is connected to the Saint Luo Dynasty. You can help him; he has greater value.”

“Not the Saint Luo Empire?” Lin Lei was puzzled; the werewolves’ country was called the Saint Luo Empire.

“Different. The Saint Luo Dynasty ruled the Falon Continent for over four hundred years and was only renamed the Empire in recent decades,” the earring answered Lin Lei’s question.

Before the werewolf invasion, the Falon Continent had been home to other races.

The werewolves fought wars with these races for decades but were eventually moved by the World Tree to jointly build a dynasty with them.

That was the Saint Luo Dynasty, a secluded kingdom little known to the forest elves. They only knew that over the past century, the werewolves had gradually seized power, and the dynasty was renamed the empire.

“The Saint Luo Dynasty is somewhat similar to the current Night Elf Kingdom, both have a dual monarchy system,” the earring told Lin Lei. The emblem on Alfred’s gloves was the royal crest of the Saint Luo Dynasty.

“The crest is composed of two royal family plant symbols: thorns represent the werewolf’s homeland, and the white rose symbolizes the old rulers of Falon—the Moon Rabbit clan.”

“Moon Rabbit? Like a rabbit?” Lin Lei’s eyes widened in surprise. In this vast world, wolves actually formed a kingdom together with rabbits?

“The Moon Rabbit is a humanoid species with rabbit ears,” the earring explained further. Werewolves bearing the white rose emblem belong to the Saint Luo Dynasty, different from the current ruling werewolves of the Saint Luo Empire.

The werewolves have since removed the white rose from their imperial crest, replacing it with the ancient werewolves’ longsword symbol.

“So, Alfred and those werewolves might be enemies?” Lin Lei asked.

Before the earring could answer, a werewolf suddenly rushed in, panic-stricken: “Master, the dwarf lord has sent an army again!”

“What?” Lin Lei was startled. Could it be this soon? He barely had time to settle.

“Take me outside to see!”

Angrily, Lin Lei strode out and stood atop the city wall, only to immediately deflate.

In the swamp below, thousands of dwarves surrounded the earthen fort. They had laid stones in the swamp, and several catapults creaked as they slowly advanced, bringing the fort into their firing range.

“We can’t win...” Lin Lei thought. Although these dwarves weren’t individually strong, their numbers and weapons made it impossible for the werewolves here to resist.

“Master, what should we do?” the werewolves looked at Lin Lei nervously.

Lin Lei frowned. He had the means to annihilate these dwarves, but if he killed so many, regardless of his intentions, he and the Dwarf Kingdom would become enemies.

Besides, even if he wiped out these dwarves, it would only buy a short reprieve for the werewolves before the dwarves launched a stronger offensive.

“No, I need a long-term solution,” Lin Lei began to ponder. He couldn’t let these dwarves seize his spaceship.

He now needed time to wait for the spaceship’s fuel. Until then, he had to protect these werewolves as promised.

“First, we can’t fight the army head-on...” Lin Lei thought, then waved his hand: “Minions, I want the lord’s intelligence!”

At this moment, Reinhardt was investigating victims in the dwarf town.

“When was the first time you saw the Demon King?”

He asked the thirty-third stout woman. She grabbed a mug and took a deep swig: “I always wondered why a human would buy me a drink; now I know it’s connected to that Demon King. This little drink won’t be enough!”

Reinhardt watched as the woman finished a few large gulps from a barrel bigger than his own head. He couldn’t imagine why Lin Lei would be interested in such a woman—her arms were thicker than his thighs.

Though dwarves were short, they were each as strong as oxen, hardly fitting the elves’ aesthetic standards.

“Boss, bring me two more barrels...” Reinhardt called to the tavern owner, who immediately brought out two more barrels. Here, the alcohol was sold only by the barrel.

“That’s better...” The woman seemed satisfied and opened a new barrel: “I met that guy three days ago in the afternoon, before nightfall. The moment he saw me, he called me ‘Sweetheart,’ and he charmed me into a state of bliss...”

“Three days ago in the afternoon?” Reinhardt’s heart skipped a beat. He had finally found the time that could prove Lin Lei’s innocence.

Three days ago in the afternoon, Lin Lei was still attending the Alliance Council. Reinhardt remembered the kings’ heated debate that lasted until after dark, and they even went to dinner together afterward.

Lin Lei simply could not have appeared here before nightfall.

“Vivian, Vivian... I found it!” Reinhardt ran out of the tavern excitedly, calling to the impatient Vivian outside: “I found evidence proving the Supreme King’s innocence!”

“It doesn’t matter anymore...” Vivian stood up, unable to bear the dwarves’ smell of alcohol: “Let’s hurry to find the lord here and ask him to help us return to Saint Valen.”

“Y-yes...” Reinhardt nodded eagerly. “We also want him to rescue the Supreme King.”

The two headed toward the lord’s manor, but halfway there, the town’s alarm bell rang.

“Bad news! The lord’s daughter was taken away by the Demon King!”

“Daughter? Haha, no way.”

“No, it’s the lord’s wife who was taken by the Demon King!”

“Damn it, this is definitely true!”

A dwarf drinking in the street slammed his mug on the ground: “Lady Eluvita is the most beautiful woman in this town; I knew she’d catch the Demon King’s eye!”

“The Demon King even said if the lord doesn’t withdraw his troops, he’ll make Lady Eluvita bear a litter of wolf-dwarves!”

“Oh my god, not only does he want her for himself, he wants the werewolves to have her too!”

The dwarves in the town erupted into chaos. Vivian turned to Reinhardt: “You said he was innocent, right?”

Reinhardt nearly cried. The Supreme King really did have an interest in dwarf women!
