Chapter 127: Human Resources Department
Brothers, I’m asking for your recommendation votes!
The novel "Real Estate Art" will be officially launched on July 5th. I hope you can save your monthly votes for me for a couple more days. Thank you very much.
After the contract was signed, Zhang Wei accompanied Li Yun and Zhang Wenyuan through the property handover and the transfer of ownership procedures. His intention was to build a good rapport with the couple, and through the interactions over these past few days, he had indeed grown closer to them.
Li Yun and Zhang Wenyuan promised to send Zhang Wei a wedding invitation when the time came, and Zhang Wei happily accepted, promising to bring them a generous red envelope. By now, the two parties could basically be considered friends.
To survive in the real estate agency industry, the most important thing isn't just your professional capability; it's whether you can become friends with your clients. As long as you can get along well with them, your career prospects will continue to widen.
Ours is a society that values interpersonal connections. The more friends you have and the broader your network, the easier it is to get things done. If you happen to meet influential people, a simple helping hand from them could lead to a qualitative leap in your career.
Unlike Zhang Wei’s overflowing joy, Wang Zhen was furious at his branch office upon hearing that Li Yun had already purchased a property. Although he had been searching for new listings over the past few days, Tiantian Real Estate had very few resources, and he ultimately failed to find a suitable property.
During this period, Wang Zhen had considered collaborating with other agencies, but Tiantian Real Estate had a poor reputation in the neighborhood. They were known for either poaching other companies' clients or maliciously undercutting commission fees, so most agencies were unwilling to work with them.
Furthermore, collaboration between agencies is notoriously troublesome. With conflicting interests and mutual distrust, seamless cooperation is practically impossible. Thus, Wang Zhen’s attempt to team up with other agencies bore no fruit.
When Wang Zhen’s uncle heard that Li Yun had signed with another agency, he reprimanded Wang severely, feeling that he had botched the deal, and his tone was harsher than ever before.
When Li Yun first told Wang Zhen she had signed with someone else, Wang had asked which agency it was, but she hadn't given him a direct answer. She only mentioned she had bought a house in Oriental City without going into details.
Wang Zhen felt deeply frustrated by this. His company was small, agile, and low on funds, so he frequently poached clients from larger firms by offering discounted commissions. He hadn't expected to have the rug pulled out from under him this time, and a fire of rage burned in his heart.
This is how the real estate industry goes. You can be happy for an entire day just by closing a deal, no matter how small. But if your client is snatched away by a rival, the frustration can linger for days or even weeks.
"No way. I’ve been working on this for half a month, and the deal gets snatched? I, Wang Zhen, cannot swallow this!" After pondering for a long time, Wang Zhen couldn't suppress his fury and slammed his hand on the desk at the Tiantian Real Estate office.
"All of you, use your contacts and find out which agency signed a duplex apartment in Oriental City these past two days. Once I find out who it is, I’ll show them some real trouble," Wang Zhen commanded his agents.
Employee turnover in real estate agencies is very high. Many agents have worked for several different companies and are bound to have acquaintances elsewhere. Finding out which agency had sold a duplex in Oriental City was not a difficult task.
"Don't worry, Brother Wang. We'll find out for you."
"Exactly! Daring to poach a client from Tiantian Real Estate? That’s like pulling a tiger’s whiskers! Once I know which agency it is, I’ll stand outside their office every single day and poach every client that walks through their door."
The cohesion in small real estate firms, besides financial interest, is often built on brotherhood. Seeing Wang Zhen get burned on this deal, many agents responded enthusiastically, their words filled with provocation.
Zhang Wei was, of course, unaware of what was happening at the Tiantian Real Estate office, nor did he have the time to care about Wang Zhen’s feelings. With the end of the month approaching, the position of branch manager for the Yayuan office was about to be decided.
Zhang Wei had successfully closed a deal, which acted as an invisible weight in his favor during the competition for the manager position. However, whether he would ultimately be appointed depended on the decision of the senior management at Zhongtong Company.
Two days passed, and in the blink of an eye, it was the 24th. Tomorrow was payday for commissions, and Zhang Wei was about to receive over a million in performance commissions from the previous month. He couldn't help but start planning how to use that money.
At ten in the morning, the weather was starting to get hot. Fortunately, due to the high performance of the Yayuan branch last month, the Beijing headquarters had improved their benefits, allowing them to use air conditioning, a luxury not afforded to lower-performing branches.
"Zhang Wei, Zhang Wei..." As Zhang Wei was lost in thought, Wen Fang, sitting in the row behind him, suddenly called his name.
"Oh, is something up, Wen Fang?" Zhang Wei snapped back to reality, turned his head toward her, and asked with some surprise.
"A call from the Beijing headquarters. They’re asking for you," Wen Fang said, covering the receiver with her right hand.
"A call from the Beijing headquarters?" Zhang Wei’s heart skipped a beat. The headquarters wouldn't call a regular agent for no reason. Could it be they were really going to promote him to store manager?
Without time to overthink, he hurried over to take the call. "Hello, this is Zhang Wei."
"Hello, this is Xu Jie from the Human Resources Department of Zhongtong Company. Do you have time to come to the company this afternoon?" a young woman asked.
"Yes, I do. May I ask what the company needs me for?" Zhang Wei inquired.
"It’s regarding your recommendation for the store manager position. As for the specific details, the relevant leadership will discuss them with you. I am merely responsible for notifying you," Xu Jie replied coolly.
"Oh, I see," Zhang Wei said.
"If there are no issues, I hope you can arrive at the Beijing headquarters by 2:30 PM sharp. Someone at the front desk will be there to receive you," Xu Jie said.
"Understood," Zhang Wei replied.
"I will send you a text message shortly containing a list of materials you need to bring. Please prepare them in advance. If you have any questions, feel free to call me," Xu Jie added.
"Understood."
"Is there anything else you are unclear about regarding what I’ve said?" Xu Jie asked.
"No."
"Very well. I will send you that text within five minutes. Goodbye," Xu Jie said in a very formal tone and hung up.
"Goodbye."
After hanging up, a surge of joy rose in Zhang Wei’s heart. Although he had never gone through a promotion process before, if it wasn't a promotion, why would they call him to the company? And why would they ask him to bring his materials?
