What to Do When You Can't Keep Your Childhood Sweetheart in Check Little Darling 2312 words 2026-04-13 23:55:50

Jiang Muwen had not never considered keeping a record of her everyday life, but the fear of being discovered by Wen Yichen had made her abandon the idea. Then she thought about it again: someone as ice-cold as Wen Yichen probably had no interest in digging into something like that anyway.

With that in mind, Jiang Muwen immediately opened an account and typed her new ID into the nickname field: Little Green Plum.

Her bio read: Keeping track of my daily life with my childhood sweetheart.

After a moment’s thought, Jiang Muwen drafted the first post for Little Green Plum.

Today, Little Green Plum found a sneaky photo of me in my childhood sweetheart’s phone album. :d

Once the post was successfully sent, there was, as always, only silence. Of course, this was entirely within her expectations. After all, an account that had just been created was hardly likely to draw a response at once. Perhaps even in two or three years, no one would notice this microblog at all.

After finishing everything, Jiang Muwen climbed into bed. Just as she was about to lie down and sleep, her phone chimed with a message from the study group chat.

Gu Nianxi: There’s a newly opened resort over in South City. I heard you can even watch the sunrise there. Do you all want to go together for the May Day holiday?

Bai Xu: Sure.

Yin Lize: I’m in.

Gu Nianxi: It’s on the house. Tickets from a partner company were given to my brother. One each, exactly enough for everyone.

After saying that, Gu Nianxi added, don’t you want to go?

Seeing him say so, Jiang Muwen immediately jumped in to support him.

Jiang Muwen: Going, going!

As soon as Jiang Muwen agreed, Wen Yichen chimed in as well.

Wen Yichen: Fine.

After Wen Yichen agreed, Bai Xu and Gu Chen also said yes.

The day they had agreed to set out arrived on schedule, and everyone reached the entrance to the resort at the appointed time.

By the time Jiang Muwen and Wen Yichen arrived at the destination, Yin Lize, Bai Xu, and Gu Chen were already waiting at the gate. They had agreed to meet in the evening, and the afterglow of the setting sun spilled across the vast resort grounds. The villas seemed to have been coated in a layer of gold dust, gleaming brilliantly beneath the light.

“Wow, what exactly does Gu Nianxi’s family do to be able to invite everyone to such a high-end place?” Bai Xu asked, glancing at the villas inside the resort and clicking his tongue in admiration twice.

Once he spoke, silence fell over the air.

What exactly Gu Nianxi’s family did, Gu Nianxi had never really told them. They only knew that his family ran a company, but as for what kind of company it was, no one knew.

Not long after Bai Xu finished speaking, a gleaming car slowly pulled up in front of them. The steady black body instantly drew everyone’s attention, and in the next second Bai Xu let out another “wow.”

After the car came to a stop, Gu Nianxi ran out of it. Just as he reached Jiang Muwen’s side, the window on the driver’s side slowly rolled down again.

“Xiao Xi, take everyone inside first. I’ll be over after I finish parking.”

When Gu Niancun’s voice cut through the air, the corner of Wen Yichen’s mouth twitched almost imperceptibly.

The Gu Niancun before them seemed like an uninvited guest who had dropped straight into their midst.

Wen Yichen glanced at Gu Niancun, then at Jiang Muwen beside him, who was speaking with Gu Niancun. He could not help but breathe a little easier. Good thing he had come today. Otherwise, heaven knew what sort of maddening exchanges Gu Niancun and Jiang Muwen might have had.

Gu Niancun did not notice the few youngsters standing nearby. His gaze lingered on Jiang Muwen for a moment before moving away. Just as he was about to roll the window back up, Yin Lize’s voice fell into his ears.

“Hello, big brother.”

That single greeting startled Gu Niancun badly. He lifted his head abruptly, his deep gaze settling on Yin Lize, and a look of surprise colored those normally imposing eyes.

If his legs had been outside the car right then, Yin Lize might have rushed over to hug them without hesitation.

Gu Niancun looked at Yin Lize, the corners of his mouth lifting slightly before he gave a low hum in response.

With Yin Lize leading the way, everyone else quickly followed suit and started calling him the same thing. Though there were not many people present, one “big brother” after another was enough to leave Gu Niancun a little embarrassed.

He probably rarely heard anyone call him that. At the company, everyone was used to addressing him as President Gu, so suddenly changing to something else really was a little hard to get used to.

“You all go in first. I’ll come after I park the car,” Gu Niancun said as he rolled up the window.

Before driving off, his gaze once again drifted unconsciously toward Jiang Muwen. Even he did not know why. Whenever Jiang Muwen was around, he could not help but look at her a few extra times. And every time he saw her within the reach of his eyes, he felt an inexplicable sense of peace.

Along the way, everyone chatted and laughed, with only Wen Yichen walking silently beside Jiang Muwen, seeming somewhat out of place amid the lively chatter.

He stayed close to her, as though if he were not careful for even a moment, Jiang Muwen would be whisked away by Gu Niancun.

The villa Gu Niancun had prepared for everyone was very large. Once they stepped inside, they all let out a soft chorus of amazement. The resort villa was a two-story building. Its modern European style filled the entire place with an air of refinement and luxury, so much so that even the plain water in the bottles seemed to carry an aura of I am extremely expensive.

While everyone was busy looking around, the villa door was pushed open again. The next second, Gu Niancun’s steady voice reached them.

“How is it? Have the rooms been assigned?”

At his words, everyone fell silent.

From the puzzled looks on their faces, Gu Niancun immediately understood: the rooms had not yet been assigned.

“There are a few rooms upstairs. Choose whichever you like. After you put your bags away, I’ll take you all out for dinner. What do you feel like eating?”

“Whatever you decide,” Yin Lize answered at once.

As soon as he spoke, everyone’s eyes turned toward him. The way he looked right then was just like a little puppy seeing its owner. If he had a tail, it would probably already be spinning itself into a frenzy.

“They say the seafood here is pretty good. Let’s have seafood,” Gu Niancun said with another question.

His low voice brushed through the quiet air. Perhaps everyone was truly a little afraid of this older brother, because although he had phrased it as a question, by the time it reached their ears it had already turned into a statement, and a rather commanding one at that.

Seeing that no one was speaking, Gu Niancun asked again, “No objections?”
