A flurry of questions popped like firecrackers in Jiang Muwen’s mind. After a long hesitation, she finally tapped the accept button.

Gu Niancun’s profile picture was a portrait of a person sitting in casual attire. After staring at it for a long while, Jiang Muwen realized it was Gu Niancun himself. Yet, the person in the photo seemed like a completely different man from the one who sat in the office.

Jiang Muwen had a habit: whenever she saw someone’s profile picture was a real photo of themselves, she couldn't help but click to view it, silently zooming in, and zooming in again.

The photo appeared to be a candid shot, yet it couldn't mask his overwhelming presence. He sat quietly in his casual clothes, eyes cast downward, petting a cat in his lap with a look of doting affection.

This photo had been taken by Gu Nianxi. She had told him that he was usually too stern and serious, often putting people under pressure, so she snapped this picture of him and secretly changed his avatar. Gu Niancun didn't seem to mind much; he simply let his sister have her way, adopting the mindset of "as long as she’s happy," and helplessly accepted the profile picture.

It must be said, however, that the image instantly made Jiang Muwen feel he was much more approachable. After all, Gu Niancun wasn't that much older than them; he was simply young, successful, and so outstanding that he felt somewhat out of reach.

As soon as Jiang Muwen accepted the request, a message popped up from Gu Niancun: "Are you home?"

Looking at the message, Jiang Muwen’s heart skipped a beat. The feeling was akin to a homeroom teacher adding her as a friend and then summoning her for a talk.

She typed "I'm home" into the dialogue box, but hesitated, then deleted it. Her fingers tapped lightly on the screen, leaving a "Yeah!" but she paused over the send button before deleting that as well—it seemed a bit too informal.

In the next second, she edited a new one: "Is there something you need, Brother?"

That didn't seem right either.

Just as she was pondering how to reply, Gu Niancun sent another message: "Don't be nervous. I only added you for the sake of work convenience."

With that said, Jiang Muwen deleted everything in the dialogue box and sent: "Is there more work to be done?"

Gu Niancun: "Not for now."

Gu Niancun: "Are you home?"

Jiang Muwen: "Yes."

Shortly after she sent the message, Gu Niancun replied immediately: "You've worked hard these past two days. Get some rest early, and remember to send me the work schedule tomorrow."

Jiang Muwen stared at the message, wondering how Gu Niancun had found her contact information, when he sent another: "Goodnight."

Jiang Muwen: "Goodnight. :)"

After the message was sent, everything went quiet. Jiang Muwen stared at her phone screen until it went black, only then slowly realizing: for someone as capable as Gu Niancun, finding someone's contact information shouldn't be difficult at all.

Before she knew it, Jiang Muwen had been working under Gu Niancun for most of the day. Just as she was about to take a break, Jerry returned to the office clutching a file. "Little Jiang, take this file to Sassy. She’s in the first office on the left on the sixth floor."

Although Jiang Muwen wasn't sure what the file contained, she did as she was told. The sixth floor was almost entirely dedicated to practice rooms, where most of Qian Ci’s trainees rehearsed. As soon as she stepped out of the office after delivering the file, she saw Yin Lize pressed against a transparent glass window.

He looked like a child, hands plastered against the glass, eyes fixed intently on the trainees inside. Standing beside Yin Lize was Gu Niancun.

The CEO stood calmly by Yin Lize’s side, his gaze tracking the trainees just as Yin Lize’s was. With his hands in his pockets, his thin lips parted, appearing to say something to Yin Lize.

Once Gu Niancun finished, Yin Lize turned to look at him. After a few seconds, he nodded, as if he had just made a major decision.

Gu Niancun watched the boy before him, and a moment later, the corners of his lips curled into a gentle arc, a rare trace of softness in his eyes.

Jiang Muwen stood there, stunned. She watched the two men, momentarily lost in thought. She had never seen this gentle side of Gu Niancun before. What were these two talking about? What could make them so happy?

Just as she was wondering, both of them turned around. Yin Lize’s eyes locked onto Jiang Muwen. "Big Sister, why are you here?"

Yin Lize called out to her at the top of his voice and trotted over to her side, looking at her curiously, waiting for a reply.

Jiang Muwen glanced at Yin Lize, then shifted her gaze to Gu Niancun. The man was standing straight, and after a brief moment of eye contact, Jiang Muwen immediately looked away. "I came to deliver a file."

No sooner had she finished speaking than Gu Niancun walked leisurely toward them. Jiang Muwen expected him to tell her to return to the office to continue working, but instead, he stopped beside Yin Lize. "Are you sure about this?"

Yin Lize looked up at Gu Niancun and gave a firm nod.

"Then I'll wait for you." Gu Niancun finished, patted Yin Lize’s shoulder gently with his large hand, and then strode away, quickly disappearing from their sight.

Whether it was her overthinking or not, Jiang Muwen felt there was something indescribable about their conversation.

"What did you two just talk about?" Jiang Muwen asked curiously.

"Nothing." Yin Lize didn't seem to intend on sharing the content of their conversation. Before long, he changed the subject. "Don't you have anything to do right now? Come with me to the studio. A big star came by today!"

Before Jiang Muwen could answer, Yin Lize pulled her toward the studio on the top floor. However, as soon as she stepped inside, she felt a wave of relaxed atmosphere wash over her. Jiang Muwen was subconsciously taken aback—she had only been gone for two days, so why had the atmosphere in the studio changed so much?

"The young starlet An Ruoxue from the entertainment industry is here for her headshots today. Look, she’s over there!" Yin Lize said, pointing toward the front right.

But Jiang Muwen’s attention wasn't on the celebrity Yin Lize mentioned. She was staring straight at Wen Yichen, who sat not far away. He wasn't carrying his camera today; instead, he was sitting quietly on a sofa to the side, head tilted, earnestly peeling a medicated patch off his shoulder.

What happened to him?
