When Wen Yichen asked that, Jiang Muwen was momentarily flustered. There was a hint of surprise in his tone, and beneath that surprise, she inexplicably sensed a trace of reluctance.

Just as Jiang Muwen was about to type "If you don't want to, then forget it" into the input box, Wen Yichen sent another message: "Then I’ll see you at the airport."

"..." Jiang Muwen stared at her phone screen, unable to react for a moment. So, he had agreed?

While she was still immersed in joy, Wen Yichen sent another message: "Go to sleep now, goodnight."

Having waited through the stars and the moon, Jiang Muwen finally reached the day Wen Yichen was to return to the country. His flight was scheduled to arrive at Chengnan Airport at eight o'clock. After a quick dinner, she set off from home, filled with anticipation.

The air conditioning in the airport was turned up high, and as soon as Jiang Muwen stepped inside, she couldn't help but shiver. She stood obediently at the arrival exit, but as eight o'clock passed, Wen Yichen and his companions were nowhere to be seen.

"It's okay, they still have to wait for their luggage after getting off the plane," she thought, shifting her stance slightly. She leaned against a nearby railing, resting her cheek in her small palm, watching the people streaming out of the exit with a sense of boredom. People came and went, but still, there was no sign of Wen Yichen.

Waiting for half an hour without seeing him was acceptable, but after an hour, Jiang Muwen’s legs were aching, and he still hadn't appeared.

"Could he have missed me and left first?"

"That shouldn't be," she thought, straightening her posture and leaning forward slightly.

The airport air conditioning was making her feel cold. She rubbed her arms and took out her phone. Even though she knew he wouldn't reply if she messaged him now, she tentatively asked, "Have you gotten off the plane yet?"

As expected, there was no reply.

"How is a flight from Russia still delayed?" Suddenly, the voice of a passerby drifted into her ears, causing Jiang Muwen to tremble unexpectedly. Still delayed?

Did that mean the plane hadn't even landed yet?

"I heard it was delayed for a long time before it even took off," another passerby added.

After speaking, the person added, "I just heard someone say the plane had a technical failure and couldn't land."

Technical failure?

When she heard that, Jiang Muwen’s heart skipped a beat, and a surge of worry flooded her mind. Perhaps due to her vivid imagination, once those passersby finished speaking, her thoughts spiraled. She went from thinking of the best to the worst; if given enough time, she might have even jumped from the idea of a minor technical glitch to a plane crash.

The more she thought, the more chaotic and terrified she became. This kind of fear and anxiety was something she had never felt before. She was suddenly terrified—what if she never saw Wen Yichen again?

Meanwhile, on the plane, Wen Yichen was completely unaware of this. After the aircraft slowly touched down, he awoke as if from a dream, blinking his heavy eyes. Looking at the ink-black sky outside the window, he instinctively frowned. He didn't know how long he had slept, but his intuition told him it was very late.

"Wen Yixin, what time is it?" Wen Yichen straightened up and nudged Wen Yixin, who was still fast asleep, with his elbow.

Feeling someone nudging him, Wen Yixin opened his eyes in a daze. He slowly raised his hand, squinted at his watch, and closed his eyes again. "Ten o'clock."

Ten o'clock?

Once Wen Yixin spoke, Wen Yichen was wide awake. He had told Jiang Muwen the plane would land at eight; he hadn't expected it to be this late. Thinking of the young girl waiting outside for so long, he felt a pang of guilt.

He turned his head and saw Wen Yixin sleeping like a log, which annoyed him. The next second, he shifted his body, raised his hand, and slapped Wen Yixin on the face twice. "Wake up! We've arrived!"

"Oh," Wen Yixin replied half-heartedly.

"Our flight was two hours late." Seeing that Wen Yixin still showed no intention of waking up, Wen Yichen patted his face again. "Jiang Muwen has been waiting outside for two hours."

"Well, who told you to ask your girlfriend to pick you up?" Wen Yixin mumbled, his mouth slightly agape in his daze. "It's so late, why didn't you let her rest at home instead of having her pick you up?"

Before he could finish, Wen Yichen reached out and pinched Wen Yixin’s nose. Deprived of air, Wen Yixin suddenly opened his eyes. "Wen Yichen, what are you doing?" He looked at Wen Yichen in surprise, his voice thick with a nasal tone.

Seeing that Wen Yixin was fully awake, Wen Yichen let go. "Who knew the flight would be delayed?"

"Also," Wen Yichen looked at him, "what you said about Jiang Muwen being my girlfriend..."

"What about it?" Wen Yixin saw the cabin door being opened and straightened up, looking somewhat grumpy.

"I'm not with her yet," Wen Yichen muttered quietly.

It was unclear if Wen Yixin heard him. He just glanced at him, got up, yawned, and walked out slowly.

Wen Yichen hurried along with Wen Yixin. As soon as he reached the exit, he saw a familiar figure—small and standing there, looking incredibly obedient.

The girl saw him and froze for a moment before she ran straight toward him. She didn't call out or make a scene; she just opened her arms and hurried toward him.

Her eyes sparkled with a light he had never seen before—it was as if she were crying tears of joy.

Watching Jiang Muwen, Wen Yichen couldn't help but stop in his tracks, then slowly loosened his grip on the suitcase.

The next second, Jiang Muwen threw herself into his arms without a moment's hesitation or a hint of shyness. The sudden embrace caught Wen Yichen off guard; he stumbled back two steps and stood there, stunned.

Only when her hands wrapped around his waist did he fully recover. Her small body was pressed against him, and through his thin white shirt, he could feel a trace of warmth.

"You scared me to death! They said the plane had a technical failure, and I thought I’d never see you again," Jiang Muwen muffled her voice against his chest, making her words sound unclear.

"I'm sorry, I was so late," Wen Yichen said, slowly raising his hand to gently pat her back.

Before Jiang Muwen could compose herself, Wen Yixin’s voice drifted into their ears, filled with helplessness and a hint of disdain: "Let's go. If you want to hug, do it in the car."
