Chapter 14: This Is the Fundamental Code of Conduct for the Head of the Ye Family!
Ye Luo’s face remained expressionless as she repeated her question, “Who bullied you?”
“Huh?” Ye Wuqi still couldn’t quite react, unsure what she meant.
Yan Baba looked equally bewildered.
Only then did Ye Luo change her approach, “Have you ever been bullied?”
Suddenly, Yan Baba slapped the table and burst into uncontrollable laughter, as if he’d just heard the funniest joke in the world.
Lei Xingxing also couldn’t hold back and let out a snort of laughter.
Ye Luo frowned. Was her question really so amusing?
“Why are you asking that all of a sudden?” Ye Wuqi’s expression turned a little odd.
Ye Luo assumed he was afraid to say who had bullied him, so she guessed, “Was it the school tyrant?” When she’d first arrived, she’d heard people say that the school tyrant beat someone up nearly every day.
Ye Wuqi’s face grew even stranger.
Yan Baba was laughing so hard he could barely catch his breath.
Lei Xingxing abandoned his homework altogether, lying on his desk, shaking with laughter. With his gorilla-like physique, he trembled with every chuckle, making the desk quiver.
Ye Luo’s frown deepened as she looked at them, “What’s wrong with you all?”
“It’s because you—” Yan Baba started, but before he could finish, Ye Wuqi interrupted with a playful smile, “What do you expect? They’re just prone to bouts of crazy laughter. You’ll see it often enough. You’ll get used to it. So, why are you asking me if I’ve ever been bullied? And if it was the school tyrant?”
Ye Luo said, “Just tell me honestly, have you ever been bullied? And if so, by whom?”
Ye Wuqi replied, “Why should I tell you unless you tell me why you’re asking?”
Ye Luo fell silent.
She actually wanted to explain, but she knew he wouldn’t believe her. Yet she couldn’t bring herself to lie and make up an excuse. She had never lied to her elders, especially not to someone who was not only her elder but her ancestor. That was a matter of basic integrity for the head of the Ye family.
“You really have a difficult personality,” Ye Wuqi muttered, scratching his head, “If you don’t want to talk, fine. But don’t just clam up—it’s awkward for me. All right, all right, I’ll tell you. Yes, I’ve been bullied. It was indeed the school tyrant.”
Yan Baba and Lei Xingxing’s eyes widened instantly.
Ye Wuqi shot them a look, “What are those expressions for? Isn’t that right?”
Yan Baba and Lei Xingxing nodded frantically, like pounding garlic, “Yes, yes, that’s right, Qi-ge! You were bullied by the school tyrant! Definitely by the school tyrant!”
Ye Luo pressed further, “So only the school tyrant has bullied you?”
Ye Wuqi burst out laughing, “What, one school tyrant’s not enough? You want me to have been bullied by more people? Wouldn’t that make me truly pitiful!”
“It’s not that,” Ye Luo replied, “I just want to know exactly who bullied you.”
“Just the school tyrant!” Ye Wuqi declared confidently, “Only him. He’s always picking on me. I don’t even know what I did to offend him. He stops me all the time just to rough me up!”
Yan Baba and Lei Xingxing were dumbfounded. Their Qi-ge was lying without even trying to make it sound convincing...
Ye Luo still felt something was off about Yan Baba and Lei Xingxing, but out of respect for her ancestor—and knowing the family history described him as a good, upright person—she decided he wouldn’t lie to her about something like this. So, Ye Luo chose to believe her ancestor.
Her cold eyes narrowed dangerously. The school tyrant, huh...
Ye Wuqi was startled. This new classmate’s gaze was genuinely a bit frightening.
“What’s the school tyrant’s name? What grade? Which class?” Ye Luo asked, her tone even more specific.
