Chapter 74: Whatever You Want, I Will Give You
Ye Luo spoke calmly, “You once said I remind you of someone. If what you just said was the truth, then that person must be the one you like.”
Had he ever told her that she reminded him of someone?
When did he say that?
He had no recollection at all.
Gong Lü frowned.
He thought back carefully. He was certain he’d never said such a thing to her. But there was one time, as he was leaving the villa and about to get in the car, he’d mentioned something to Song Linfeng.
And at that time, she’d been inside the house.
With such distance between them, and his voice not even raised, she’d still managed to hear him clearly?
She had yet another thing in common with the woman he liked…
At this thought, Gong Lü smiled again, his smile deeper than before, and he looked as though he was in excellent spirits.
He nodded in approval, praise in his tone, “You’ve got sharp hearing.”
Only then did Ye Luo realize she’d inadvertently revealed something.
Now it was her turn to frown.
She’d let her guard down just now.
And this man was truly clever.
In just that short time, he had already figured it out.
“I never saw you as a substitute,” Gong Lü suddenly said bluntly, his gaze ahead growing more profound. “She is irreplaceable.”
Irreplaceable.
Those four words carried such weight that even if Ye Luo had wanted to ignore it, she couldn’t help but feel the depth of his affection for “her.”
“If you weren’t her,” Gong Lü continued, “even if I had a hundred of you, I wouldn’t want any. But if you are her…”
He turned to look at her, his gaze intense. “Then you can only be mine.”
No one had ever dared to be so forceful and domineering with her before, and Ye Luo naturally detested it.
Her eyes turned icy, her voice even colder, but every word was certain, “I am not her. Don’t mistake me for someone else.”
She had only been in this era for ten days. The person he liked could not possibly be her.
Gong Lü only smiled. “I have my own judgment.”
Since he’d put it that way, nothing she said would convince him otherwise, so Ye Luo said nothing more. She simply finished the last two chocolates.
She tossed the wrappers into the box, closed it, and since there was no trash bin in the car, she’d have to throw it away after getting out.
The rest of the journey was spent in silence.
When the car finally stopped in the villa courtyard, Ye Luo unfastened her seatbelt and got out.
As she opened the door, she saw Gong Lü was already out of the car, reaching out a hand toward her, clearly asking for the chocolate box she was holding.
She had never intended to keep the box and was planning to toss it in the trash, so if he wanted it, she’d give it to him.
Without a moment’s hesitation, Ye Luo handed the box to Gong Lü.
Without so much as a glance, Gong Lü tossed the box into a nearby trash can.
He said to her, “Don’t be so quick to accept chocolates from others, or anything else. If you are her, I’ll give you all these things myself.”
He paused, then added, “Anything, I’ll give it to you.”
At that, for the first time, Ye Luo thought Gong Ran might be right in saying he was unwell.
Unwilling to waste her breath, she walked around him and headed inside.
As soon as she entered, Uncle Wang greeted her with a smile, “Miss Luo, your room is ready. Would you like us to help you move your things in now, or wait until after dinner?”
“What room?” Ye Luo was completely puzzled.
“The room next to Sir’s. Before he went to pick you up from school, he told me that it has the best soundproofing in the villa. Once the door is closed, you can’t hear a sound from outside. He wants you to move into that room so you can get a truly peaceful sleep every night.”
