Chapter 117: Aren't the students in your class all underachievers?
Serving as proctors for Science Examination Hall 1 were Jiang Dabao, the homeroom teacher of Class 19, and a literature teacher named Mr. Wang.
The rotund Jiang Dabao walked in with a thermos in one hand and the test papers in the other, beaming at Mr. Wang. When he caught sight of Ye Luo, his smile widened so much that his eyes disappeared into slits. It was obvious to everyone present that Ye Luo was his student.
Ye Luo: "..."
Once the papers were distributed and the exam began, Jiang and Mr. Wang moved silently through the aisles to deter cheating. Only ten minutes had passed when Jiang, catching a glimpse of Ye Luo already working on her essay, paused in his tracks. He had initially suspected that this student of his hadn't even attempted the preceding questions. However, looking at her answer sheet, he saw that she had filled in every blank—and every answer was correct.
"Mmph!" Jiang Dabao clamped a hand over his mouth, nearly crying out in shock. Were he not currently proctoring an exam, he would have been jumping for joy.
Hearing the faint sound, Ye Luo paused her pen and glanced at Jiang. Seeing him staring at her answer sheet with such intense excitement and astonishment that his eyes seemed ready to pop out of his head, she simply thought, "..." She then ignored him and returned to her writing.
Mr. Wang, noticing Jiang’s shocked expression, hurried over and followed his gaze to Ye Luo’s answer sheet. He, too, immediately covered his mouth. "Mmph!"
He then pointed at Ye Luo’s paper, asking Jiang silently with his eyes, "Aren't all the students in your class academic underachievers?"
Fearing he would disrupt the exam but desperate to speak, Jiang pulled Mr. Wang out of the classroom. Outside, in a voice that was hushed yet clearly displeased, he hissed, "What? Are you saying my student isn't allowed to improve?"
"That's not it, it's just that this progress is so—" Standing at the doorway, Mr. Wang lowered his voice, gesturing toward Ye Luo. Just as he was about to remark on how impossibly fast her improvement was, he noticed her writing speed and his eyes widened again. He lowered his voice even further, unable to mask his agitation. "Old Jiang, look! Look at your student's hand speed—that speed!"
Jiang finally noticed how rapidly Ye Luo was writing. He was struck with fresh shock, then nodded in sudden realization. "No wonder she's already started the essay after such a short time."
"Old Wang, keep an eye on things for a moment. I’m going to the office to grab something!" Without waiting for a reply, a thrilled Jiang Dabao hurried off to the staff office.
Though no one else in the room heard the conversation outside, Ye Luo had heard every word clearly, yet she acted as if nothing had happened.
She possessed a super-brain; reading ten lines at a glance was basic for her. Furthermore, these questions were elementary; she knew the answers and could compose the essay at a glance without any mental exertion. Combined with her rapid writing speed, it was only natural that she finished quickly.
She simply didn't want to waste time in the examination hall. She wanted to finish early so she could leave and use her phone to pick up translation orders to earn money. Fortunately, the school had no rules against early submission.
Before Jiang Dabao even returned, Ye Luo finished the exam. She didn't bother checking her work; she simply handed in her paper and walked out of the hall.
Someone had turned in their paper in less than fifteen minutes? The top-tier students, who were buried in their work, were shocked. But upon seeing it was Ye Luo, they felt it was only to be expected. Since she couldn't answer the questions anyway, she might as well leave early to enjoy herself.
