Chapter 62: Gong Lv Has Become Even Stranger
As she was getting ready for bed, she recalled the scene of Gong Lu standing at her door. Suspicious that he might still be there, she decided to open the door and check.
Only then did she realize Gong Lu was no longer outside her room.
“I must be out of my mind,” Ye Luo muttered to herself in a low voice when she saw not a soul at the door. It was one thing to be suspicious, but to actually open the door and look! It was all because that man had been acting so strange today.
With this thought, Ye Luo couldn’t be bothered to dwell on it any longer. She pushed the matter from her mind, closed the door, and went to sleep.
The next time this door opened, it was six forty in the morning.
As soon as Ye Luo opened her door, the waiting maid immediately bowed deeply and addressed her with utmost respect. “Miss, Sir asked me to tell you that he has a busy day at the office and left early, so he won’t be joining you for breakfast. However, he will be back this evening to have dinner with you.”
Ye Luo frowned.
Why did that man specifically ask the maid to relay this message to her? Had he ever done this before?
Clearly, he had not.
But Ye Luo didn’t ask further and simply went downstairs to the dining room.
Upon entering, she saw Uncle Wang staring at her with a look of hesitation and concern.
Ye Luo had no idea what was wrong with Uncle Wang, but as usual, she sat down for breakfast.
Today’s breakfast was millet porridge and small triangular buns.
The buns were exquisitely made, beautifully arranged on the plate. Ye Luo took a sip of the millet porridge and noticed it was slightly sweet—a flavor unlike any porridge she’d had here before. She looked toward Uncle Wang.
He immediately pulled a long face and said, “I told Sir you probably wouldn’t like sugar in your porridge, but he insisted I add it. And the filling in the buns is sweet as well…”
Ye Luo frowned.
Ever since she’d arrived, she simply ate whatever the kitchen prepared, never expressing any preference. How did Gong Lu know she had a fondness for sweets?
Noticing her frown and assuming she truly couldn’t eat it, Uncle Wang hurried to clear her breakfast away. “Miss Luo, let me get you something else. We have unsweetened—”
Before he could finish, Ye Luo stopped him. “Leave it,” she said, her tone even softer after a pause. “It’s very good.”
“Huh?” Uncle Wang was momentarily stunned.
Ye Luo said nothing more, simply took another spoonful of porridge and quietly ate a small triangular bun.
Only then did Uncle Wang realize she meant she liked the breakfast.
He was truly astonished. Their Miss Luo actually liked sweets! Yet he had never known this about her—so how did Sir know?
Ye Luo herself wasn’t shocked, only puzzled.
She’d already thought Gong Lu was acting strangely last night, and now, she found him even more peculiar.
Before, though she never picked at her food, she hadn’t eaten much at each meal since the dishes weren’t her favorites. But today, because there were sweets, Ye Luo not only finished a bowl of porridge but also ate several buns.
Still, since the buns were so small, Uncle Wang worried she hadn’t eaten enough and tried to get her to have more.
After eating another bun, Ye Luo finally picked up her schoolbag and left.
Only when the car carrying Ye Luo had disappeared completely from view did Uncle Wang turn and head back into the villa.
Once inside, he called Gong Lu.
Gong Lu was busy in his office at the headquarters of Gong Group. The moment he saw Uncle Wang calling, he knew it must be about Ye Luo and immediately answered.
He picked up so quickly that even Uncle Wang was taken aback—Sir had never answered the phone this fast before.
