Chapter 78: Don’t Let Yourself Fall Into My Hands!
They all stopped in unison.
Ye Luo looked at him as if she were staring at a corpse.
Unlike her, he seemed quite pleased and even asked, “Given up yet?”
“No. One day, I’ll move out.” She should actually thank him, for making her realize with such clarity that, no matter the era, only the strongest are free from bullying and restraint, only the strongest are able to do as they please.
She had to become stronger.
At the very least, she had to surpass him!
Gong Lu simply nodded. “That sounds more like you.”
Ye Luo frowned. She truly couldn’t understand him at all.
“Stay here for now,” Gong Lu continued. “If you’re really her, even if you move out, you won’t be able to get rid of me. But if you’re not her, then even if you don’t wish to move, after you graduate from college, I’ll make you leave.”
Ye Luo didn’t bother arguing that she wasn’t that person—she’d told him as much three days ago, but he’d said he had his own way of judging, so what more was there to say?
She brushed past him and continued upstairs.
No matter whether he would one day allow her to break free of him, she was determined to become stronger!
Now, with Gong Lu restricting her so much, who knew if someone else like him might come along in the future? And she had no desire whatsoever to be bound or confined by anyone. The only answer was to grow stronger!
...
She couldn’t move out, so when Uncle Wang came again to ask whether she’d like to live in the room next to Gong Lu’s, Ye Luo agreed.
The room beside Gong Lu’s was truly soundproof. If she moved there, she’d have a much quieter environment than her current room—so why not?
Uncle Wang, together with several servants, helped her move. It didn’t take even half an hour to finish.
At the end, only her laptop and the pot of snake plant on her desk were left.
Ye Luo carried the laptop in one hand and cradled the snake plant in the other. She hadn’t even reached the door of her new room when she saw Gong Lu leaning against his own doorway, sipping coffee at a leisurely pace and watching her with a faint, amused smile.
She paused for a moment, then continued forward.
When she arrived at the door of her new room, she didn’t go in but stopped at the threshold, facing Gong Lu. Her expression was blank, her whole demeanor cold as she said, “Don’t fall into my hands.”
Otherwise, he’d see what she was capable of.
She’d never been so restricted by anyone before.
Gong Lu smiled, took another unhurried sip of his black coffee, then replied with a grin, “I’ll be waiting for that day.”
Ye Luo turned on her heel and entered the new room, not caring whether anyone saw. As soon as she was inside, she closed the door firmly behind her, not even glancing back.
“She’s really angry now…” Gong Lu lowered his head and chuckled, then took another slow sip of coffee before uttering two words: “Very good.”
Uncle Wang, who had witnessed the whole scene from the side, was left speechless.
Very good?
Sir, could it be that you’re actually a bit of a masochist…?
...
Unable to buy a house in City S, Ye Luo thought it over and decided to use her savings to settle accounts with Gong Lu.
After a rough calculation, she owed Gong Lu four million, to cover the expenses she and He Luo had incurred over the past year living, eating, and using things in the villa.
As for her continued stay, she would consider herself a tenant and Gong Lu the landlord, settling expenses with him on a monthly basis.
With this in mind, Ye Luo opened her door and went next door to knock on Gong Lu’s.
She needed his bank details to transfer the money.
She’d barely knocked twice when Gong Lu’s deep, magnetic voice called out, “Who is it?”
“It’s me, He Luo.”
“Come in.”
So Ye Luo pushed open the door and went in.
But when she saw what was inside, her cool gaze was shocked to the point that her pupils contracted instantly.
