Chapter 57: I Never Expected That You Would Be...
Ye Wuqi followed the direction the manager pointed, and saw Qiao Qingyang dressed in a bartender’s uniform, carrying several empty bottles as he walked over. Immediately, Ye Wuqi’s face lit up with a smile and he strode forward to greet him.
With a mischievous grin, he asked, “So, beauty, are you getting used to working here?”
Qiao Qingyang placed the empty bottles on the bar for the other staff to take away, smiling as he replied, “What’s there to get used to? There isn’t a job I haven’t done before. Anyway, now I don’t have to worry about constantly switching jobs.”
“Rest assured, just keep working here. Even if your father had ten times his courage, he wouldn’t dare make trouble in this place.”
“Thanks.” The next second, Qiao Qingyang’s gaze at him became somewhat complicated. “I never imagined you would actually be—”
“Hey, hey,” Ye Wuqi interrupted, unable to stand that expression. “Don’t worry about who I am. Aren’t we still friends? Don’t overthink it. And you’re stubborn too, refusing any high position and insisting on being a bartender.”
Qiao Qingyang found it amusing. “I know my own worth.”
“Alright then.” Ye Wuqi didn’t push further. “Get back to your work. I’ve got things to do—I’m heading upstairs.”
“Okay.”
As soon as Ye Wuqi reached the third floor, he walked straight to the innermost private room.
Without bothering to knock, he pushed the door open and barged right in.
“Brother Lu, finally caught you for once!”
After saying that, he bounded forward like an exuberant husky, lunging toward Gong Lu, who was sitting alone on a sofa with a drink in hand.
Gong Lu was lost in his thoughts, and before he realized it, Ye Wuqi had tackled him. Furious, Gong Lu raised his foot, ready to kick him, but Ye Wuqi reacted swiftly, darting away to the furthest sofa. Gong Lu couldn’t be bothered to get up, so he simply retracted his foot and resumed his slow, deliberate sipping.
“I want a drink too!” Ye Wuqi leaned forward, reaching for the whiskey on the table.
Gong Lu said offhandedly, “Do you want me to break your hand?”
Ye Wuqi immediately withdrew his hand, hiding it behind his back, and pouted at Gong Lu with a look of deep grievance.
Gong Lu ignored him.
To be exact, he didn’t even spare him a glance.
It was Song Linfeng who laughed. “You know you get drunk with just a sip. If you get wasted, who’s going to take you home?”
Ye Wuqi began to complain about himself. “How did I end up with this constitution!”
Song Linfeng chuckled. “Didn’t we take you to the hospital before? They said it’s probably hereditary.”
Finally, Gong Lu cast Ye Wuqi a sidelong glance. “Then your descendants will be unlucky. Each of them might inherit this trait from you.”
“Really?” Ye Wuqi’s face lit up with delight. “That makes me feel balanced!”
Gong Lu: “…”
Song Linfeng: “…”
“Hey, Brother Lu.” Ye Wuqi suddenly sidled over like a loyal dog.
Gong Lu merely glanced at him coldly from the corner of his eye.
Ye Wuqi dared not get too close, but kept grinning foolishly. “Brother Lu, I arranged for a friend to work at the bar. You don’t have to pay me, but you must give me this favor.”
“Pfft.” Song Linfeng burst out laughing. “You sound as if the CEO owes you money. Don’t you remember how much you siphon off from the CEO every month? Just keeping you costs him tens of millions a month.”
“It’s not that much!” Ye Wuqi instantly retorted, his neck stiff. “This month it’s only fifteen million! Brother Song, you must be truthful no matter what you do. How can you just make things up?”
So brazen…
Gong Lu’s face darkened.
