Chapter 106: The Nameless Sword
“Do you really want to try? Trying will get you killed. Do you still want to try?”
The green-robed man’s voice was low and hoarse, like the sound of two pieces of bark rubbing against each other.
“Heh… who doesn’t know that? You think you’re so tough just because you’re strong?”
Luffy shook his head slightly, pursed his lips, and lifted his eyes to Ma Xiaoqian. “Stand back if you don’t want to die.”
“Oh…” Ma Xiaoqian and Gong Juechen steadily retreated.
“Heh… kid, you’ve got some nerve. Do you even know who I am?”
The man found this boy incredibly amusing, so confident despite clearly not understanding the power he was up against. Was it ignorance? Perhaps.
“Don’t you know that sometimes having a powerful technique is better than just brute strength?”
Luffy didn’t rush to attack. The opponent was too strange; he needed to observe first.
“Sounds reasonable, but what powerful technique could a kid like you possibly have? Could it really be better than mine?”
The man sneered incredulously, his whole body trembling with laughter at the boy’s naive words.
“Is that so? Then let’s see who’s stronger.”
Luffy gripped the Thousand Thunder Sword firmly, stared straight at the sinister man, and suddenly charged forward.
“Whoosh…” The evil man transformed into a streak of green light and darted aside.
Luffy was startled. He hadn’t expected such swift footwork. He quickly activated the Smoke Dream Purple Star Step, then the “Xing” character secret technique, suddenly catching up.
The evil man was surprised; this boy’s footwork was terrifyingly fast. Despite the huge power gap, the boy had kept pace. Truly impressive.
“Where did those two go? That was way too fast!” Gong Juechen was stunned, unable to spot their figures.
“Too fast to see clearly,” Zhang Tianling said in shock.
“Wow…” He Xueqi exclaimed dramatically.
“Kid, I always thought I was swift, but your speed surpasses mine. Not bad at all. Still, you have to die. That Dragon Bone belongs to me.”
The sinister man said ominously, a red-green whip appearing in his hand, flicking toward Luffy like lightning. Luffy barely dodged, but the edge of his clothes was shredded.
Luffy’s Thousand Thunder Sword struck fiercely at the evil man, executing a sword strike.
A white jasper-like blade cut toward the sinister figure.
“Boom…” The evil man stood still without dodging and was blasted backward.
“Clang…” Green malevolent aura swirled around him. Sparks flew where the jasper blade met the evil energy, but the man was unharmed. Luffy, however, felt sharp pain in his sword hand as the Thousand Thunder Sword snapped cleanly.
“Heh… not bad, but your sword is too ordinary. It can’t harm me.”
The evil man smiled confidently. “You’re good—knowing my name. But everyone who knows my name dies. You won’t be any different.”
“Oh? You think you’re all that?” Luffy’s eyes darkened. He couldn’t believe the sword had broken so easily. What kind of freak was this guy?
“What all that? I don’t brag, but I can’t be beaten. My name is Evil Wind. Now, you can die.”
Evil Wind grinned cruelly, his dark red-green whip radiating an increasingly intense evil aura. Gong Juechen and the others nearby gasped in horror. The monster was terrifying.
“Luffy, will he be okay?” Zhang Tianling worried.
“He won’t die for sure,” Ma Xiaoqian bit her lip and said.
“Why aren’t you running?” Luffy looked at them, somewhat incredulous.
“They won’t get away. I’ve marked them, so no matter where they run, I’ll find them.”
Evil Wind said sinisterly, bloodthirsty.
“What can I exchange five million crystal cores for?”
Luffy immediately communicated with the system. This guy was too powerful; even the Thousand Thunder Sword broke instantly. He needed a divine weapon to kill him.
“Ding. Xuanyuan Sword: 100 million crystal cores. Nameless Sword: 100 million crystal cores. Golden Cudgel: 100 million crystal cores. Five million cores can only be paid in installments. Currently, only the Nameless Sword offers installment plans: twenty installments, five million cores each, one per month. The host can repay within twenty months with no interest.”
“Damn, installments? But 100 million cores is way too much.”
Luffy was speechless. Installment plans—how advanced.
“Ding. System guarantee: fair and honest. The Nameless Sword was found by this system in the Shanhai Realm. Its original owner and materials are unknown. Its sharpness surpasses even the Xuanyuan Sword. Because the sword tip is broken by three inches, installment payment is available. Otherwise, the system wouldn’t offer this deal. Expires in 3 seconds if not redeemed.”
“Damn it, redeem it!”
Luffy was startled—three seconds meant the offer would vanish if he hesitated. Without thinking, he redeemed it.
“Ding. Deducted five million crystal cores. The host must repay five million cores next month.”
“Ding. Congratulations! Host has obtained the Nameless Broken Sword, sent to temporary storage.”
“Damn, having a system is great. Let’s see Evil Wind stay arrogant now. Anyone who knows his name dies? That’s just crazy.”
Luffy immediately drew the Nameless Broken Sword. It was a broken blade with an irregular tip. When drawn, it gleamed dazzlingly, the blade shimmering like an autumn sword, almost blinding the others.
“Whoa! You’ve got a sword that bright?!” Gong Juechen was amazed.
The sword’s presence was imposing, surrounded by a faint golden aura, as if the sword king himself was dying.
“Damn… kid, you’ve got a space ring and this sword. But it’s broken, looks flashy, probably isn’t all that powerful, right?” Evil Wind sneered, unwilling to believe the sword was formidable. After all, flashy exteriors often hide weakness.
“Try it and see.”
Luffy raised the Nameless Sword high and slashed down. The sword strike transformed the white jasper blade into a golden one.
“Pfft…” Evil Wind, standing motionless with green evil aura shielding him, was sliced cleanly in half by the Nameless Sword.
Blood sprayed everywhere as he collapsed.
“Oh wow… amazing!” Gong Juechen screamed in astonishment.
“Yay… we won!” Ma Xiaoqian jumped up excitedly.
“Heh… not bad.” Luffy shook the Nameless Sword. So sharp! One slash cut the arrogant Evil Wind in half. But Luffy didn’t stop. Evil Wind must have terrible regenerative powers; otherwise, he wouldn’t be sealed here. The only reason was that no one had found a way to kill him.
Thinking this, Luffy struck again, cutting the already halved body into four parts.
Then,
Blue-white flames blazed forward.
