Chapter 120: The Nine-Tailed Fox Spirit [Second Update]
"Holy crap, this is insane! Just one finger is this powerful?"
Lu Fei was taken aback. The image of that move seemed etched into his mind, compelling him to learn it as he watched the figure, like an ancient god, destroy heaven and earth with a single point of his finger.
Then, everything vanished. Lu Fei returned to reality, drenched in sweat but feeling invigorated. He had actually mastered the Ancient God’s Finger—a technique specifically designed to counter the Nine-Tailed Fox Demon. It seemed fate had arranged for him to acquire such a potent art. He held up his middle finger and gave it a light flick, testing it out.
"What the? Where did those formation spirits go?"
Dao Kong was bewildered. They had just rushed toward Long, thinking they were about to attack him, but they had vanished into thin air. It was truly bizarre. Without the formation spirits, wouldn't the Nine-Tailed Fox Demon become even more rampant?
"Rumble..." The ground shook continuously, and dust fell from above.
"Damn, what's going on? Is the Nine-Tailed Fox Demon about to break free?" Zhao Wushuang asked, her face full of shock as she backed away, retreating to Lu Fei's side.
Beside them, Yu Xin wore a look of disdain. "Heh, my true form is emerging. Soon, all of you will die."
"Oh, so your true form is coming out? Does that mean the formation is broken? Damn, how did this happen?" Dao Kong couldn't wrap his head around it. No one had touched the formation, yet the spirits had simply disappeared. It was hellish; was heaven destined for their demise?
"It won't come to that. With Long here, we can still escape," Zhao Wushuang said earnestly.
"Die..." Yu Xin’s expression turned sinister. She thrust out a palm, and orange demonic energy roared wildly as it surged toward Zhao Wushuang and Dao Kong. It spun rapidly, coalescing into a massive fox claw that swiped at them and Lu Fei.
"Damn, it's too strong! We can't beat this."
Dao Kong’s eyes were grave. He pushed his power to the limit, his body shimmering with golden light as he invoked the Vajra Incarnation. Zhao Wushuang spun her body, unleashing her divine skill: "Whirlwind Spirit Dance."
She spun with her greatsword in hand, slashing out a tornado that shot skyward to collide with the massive fox claw. The three forces impacted, triggering a violent explosion. The powerful backlash forced a sweet, metallic taste into Zhao Wushuang and Dao Kong's throats. They spat blood and staggered back several steps. The destructive claw did not vanish; instead, it shattered their attacks and continued its onslaught unabated.
"Ah..."
Zhao Wushuang and Dao Kong kept retreating, leaving Lu Fei standing in front of them, still dazed.
"Damn it, Long, hurry up and back away! Why are you just standing there?" Dao Kong roared, rushing toward him to shove him out of the way.
"What are you doing, just standing there?" Zhao Wushuang was also terrified, never expecting Yu Xin's attack to be so overwhelming. If Long just stood there and took the hit, he would be pulverized into meat paste.
"Boom..."
Lu Fei suddenly moved. His middle finger flicked forward.
Yes, a single middle finger.
Zhao Wushuang and Dao Kong were stunned. Was he trying to counter the powerful strike of the Nine-Tailed Fox Demon’s avatar with just a middle finger? Was this not absurd?
"This brat wants to use a single finger to face me? Has his brain been crushed by a door? Is he really that arrogant? He's courting death." Yu Xin sneered as the massive claw barreled toward the youth, ready to swallow him whole.
"Boom..." Like the death knell of the apocalypse, a beam of light shot from Lu Fei’s finger. It pierced through the massive claw, causing it to dissipate instantly, and the destructive ray continued straight toward Yu Xin.
"Impossible! How could one finger obliterate my attack?" Yu Xin’s face twisted in horror. She spat out a stream of dark red energy that collided with Lu Fei’s beam.
But it could not stop the destructive light. It was pierced through, and the beam struck Yu Xin’s body. The fox avatar was hit instantly and sent flying. The beam didn't wound her flesh but carried the Nine-Tailed fragment away with it.
"No... no... impossible! I cannot die!" The Nine-Tailed Fox avatar never imagined it would be destroyed by a youth's single finger. It was as unthinkable as the end of the world. It died without ever realizing what had happened.
Zhao Wushuang and Dao Kong stared with wide eyes and open mouths, utterly shocked. To destroy the avatar that had forced them to cough up blood with just one finger—it was inconceivable, beyond all reason.
"Just one finger."
Lu Fei was also shocked. He hadn't expected to wipe out the avatar so easily. He had only flicked it casually, without even using much strength.
The ground continued to tremble. Dao Kong rushed over to Yu Xin, checking her, and found she was merely unconscious. He let out a long sigh of relief.
"Hey, what was that move you just used? How was it so terrifying?" Zhao Wushuang asked, looking at Lu Fei with immense curiosity. Could this youth named Long be even more mysterious and powerful than he seemed?
"That? I'll tell you later. We need to deal with the main body of the Nine-Tailed Fox first. That thing is truly terrifying," Lu Fei said solemnly. They retreated a dozen meters, watching as cracks spread across the Bagua formation, snaking toward them faster and faster. The tremors grew stronger.
Debris rained down constantly.
"Boom!"
Lu Fei looked up and slashed out a sword strike, creating an opening in the ceiling, and leapt upward. Zhao Wushuang followed, while Dao Kong jumped up carrying the unconscious Yu Xin. They ran to the side, leaving the space above the basement, and watched as the area ahead collapsed.
"Crackle, crash..." Dust billowed into the sky, thick and pungent, filling the air.
The night was dim, the moonlight like gauze. In the quiet village, the sound of the collapse was deafening.
Lu Fei stood before the ruins, watching calmly, waiting for the powerful Nine-Tailed Fox Demon to emerge from the formation so he could destroy it. This was the duty that came with learning the Ancient God’s Finger; he had no choice.
The Nine-Tailed Fox Demon was likely immense, and though he didn't know the extent of its power, it had to be dealt with. Otherwise, it would spell great trouble. Besides, the demon was likely at its weakest right after breaking free from the formation—it was the perfect time to strike.
That was Lu Fei’s plan.
"Rumble..."
A red tail emerged from the pit, surging toward the sky as rubble scattered. Then, a second tail shot up, followed by a third, a fourth...
There were nine in total. The massive tails were like small mountains, showing just how gargantuan the Nine-Tailed Fox Demon truly was. The demonic energy was violent, swirling in the air—a suffocating, terrifying presence.
