Chapter 121: The Great Battle [Third Update]
"Damn... this is too terrifying, isn't it? It's huge."
Daokong stood in the back, holding Yuxin while gazing up at the massive Nine-Tailed Fox Demon in the distance. His eyes were wide with shock. How on earth were they supposed to fight this? Even a dragon couldn't possibly defeat a monster like this, could it?
"What the..."
Zhao Wushuang was equally stunned, standing frozen in place.
"I'll deal with it. You two go and evacuate the villagers."
Seeing the two of them standing there dazed, Lu Fei was speechless. This was the middle of the village; if a fight broke out here, there was no telling how many villagers would be caught in the crossfire. Besides, this giant Nine-Tailed Fox Demon was at least twenty or thirty meters tall—it was essentially a mountain.
"Ah..."
Nearby villagers, hearing the commotion, all came out to look, only to turn and flee in terror as the ground shook continuously. Daokong carried Yuxin off to a safe distance, settling her down before rushing back to help evacuate the rest of the villagers. Fortunately, they were in a large grassy clearing, so no one was caught directly in the path of the beast.
Dust billowed into the sky, obscuring the fox's form. As the dust gradually settled, the red, towering figure of the Nine-Tailed Fox appeared before Lu Fei. It was like a colossal titan, its eyes larger than lanterns, its four massive paws planted firmly on the ground as it looked down at him.
"Ah... how terrifying!"
The villagers continued to scramble away. A little girl tripped and fell, bursting into tears.
Zhao Wushuang rushed over and scooped up the cute, rosy-cheeked child. "It's okay, I'll take you to your parents."
"Thank you, Auntie!" the little girl said politely.
"Auntie? Call me big sister! Am I really that old?" Zhao Wushuang’s forehead creased with dark lines. This little girl was not endearing at all.
"Okay, Auntie!" the little girl replied gratefully.
"Forget it, children speak their minds." Zhao Wushuang sighed, carrying the girl toward safety.
With most of the villagers evacuated, the Nine-Tailed Fox stood before Lu Fei, wreathed in chilling demonic energy. "Young man, you are quite something to have destroyed my clone and rescued that girl. I should even thank you for breaking the seal and granting me my freedom, allowing me to see the light of day once more and dominate the world."
The Nine-Tailed Fox’s voice was cold and overbearing, causing the surrounding air to tremble.
"Heh... you're daydreaming, aren't you? Dominate the world? Your current strength is only equivalent to the eighth rank. If you want to rule, you'll have to get past me first," Lu Fei said, standing with his hands behind his back and a sneer on his face. This fox was far too confident.
"Tiny human, I could crush you with a single finger, yet you dare speak to me like that?" The fox hissed, raising a massive claw and slamming it down toward Lu Fei.
*Boom!* Dust soared into the sky, and Lu Fei’s figure vanished.
The Nine-Tailed Fox paused, clearly surprised that the boy had dodged. "Not bad footwork. To evade my attack instantly—you are the first."
Lu Fei appeared ten meters away, hands still behind his back. He was wreathed in the blue-and-white flames of Nirvana Rebirth, radiating a domineering aura that, combined with his draconic energy, made him look like a monarch descending upon the world.
"For a youth to cultivate such a domineering art and possess such powerful flames... no wonder you are so confident. You truly have the strength to back it up. You are the second genius I have encountered in my life. I really ought to kill you now; if I let you grow, you will become a scourge to the hundred tribes, a great enemy to us all."
The Nine-Tailed Fox saw a terrifying future for this youth, so terrifying that he could not afford to hold back.
He raised a foreleg, dark red energy swirling around his claws. It grew increasingly potent, condensing into an energy sphere at least five meters wide. The destructive power caused the surrounding space to ripple, the very grass and flowers bowing as if in submission to the oppressive aura.
The destructive force was suffocating. In the distance, Zhao Wushuang and Daokong gasped for air.
"Damn... this Nine-Tailed Fox is too strong. Can the Dragon handle this? He won't be wiped out in one hit, right?" Daokong asked, deeply worried.
"It's possible. Although the Dragon destroyed the clone with a flick of his finger earlier, that was just a clone, not the main body. It’s hard to say," Zhao Wushuang replied, her heart heavy. They had only ever seen a fraction of the Dragon's true power; he remained a mystery.
Lu Fei took a sharp breath as he faced the attack. This guy was truly monstrous. Without hesitation, a blue-and-white flame appeared in his hand, rapidly expanding into a giant lotus flower five meters in diameter. He pushed it forward.
The two mighty forces collided in the middle of the small village, illuminating the entire valley.
"Damn... the Dragon is truly badass," Daokong said, stunned.
"..." Zhao Wushuang was speechless.
The collision formed a massive, semi-circular shockwave that rippled outwards. Lu Fei was bathed in the blinding light, his hair and clothes whipping around in the wind. The recoil sent him skidding backward, blood spilling from the corner of his mouth. He spat out a mouthful of blood, shocked by the sheer magnitude of the fox's power—this was insane.
When the energy dissipated, the ground between Lu Fei and the Nine-Tailed Fox had been gouged into a pitch-black, bottomless crater, and many of the village houses had been obliterated.
"Death is but a fleeting moment. I am surprised you could withstand my attack—quite impressive, worthy of applause. But now, I will get serious. You will die."
The Nine-Tailed Fox spoke with chilling gravity. The previous strike had been merely an appetizer; he hadn't yet unleashed his full power. He pulled out a nameless divine sword, and as the blade appeared, the very heavens seemed to dim.
Though it was only a broken sword, it was terrifyingly potent. The Nine-Tailed Fox was startled; he hadn't expected the boy to possess such a fearsome divine weapon. No wonder he dared to fight him—he was truly prepared.
"So what if you have a divine weapon? I can still wipe you out!" The Nine-Tailed Fox snarled. He lunged forward, the massive weight of his body shaking the earth. He opened his giant maw, and a dark, condensed energy sphere began to form within, pulsating with a final, world-ending power.
Lu Fei’s eyes widened. It was a Beast Flash—and a supercharged one at that.
