Chapter 32: The Thousand Thunder Sword [First Update]
Ten times the potency.
Luffy’s eyes lit up.
“My name is Long,” he said calmly, his expression utterly impassive.
“Oh, Long, nice to meet you. I’m Ji Xiaozhi,” Ji Xiaozhi nodded to Luffy.
Then the assassin spoke.
“My name is Lei,” he said simply, falling silent afterward.
Ximen Yu smiled, “I’m Ximen Yu.”
None of the four revealed their backgrounds, clearly wary and cautious.
“Let’s begin. This formation can only be broken by four people,” Ximen Yu, the most amiable among them, was the first to jump beneath the villa.
The four stood perfectly in the four cardinal positions, each facing a zombie.
“These zombies each possess two hundred times the strength of a human. If we want to destroy them, it’s up to our own abilities. Each of us will face one; as long as we prevent them from supplying energy to the formation, it will break on its own—but we still need to investigate where the energy is going,” Ximen Yu spoke solemnly, watching the roaring zombies before him.
“But they’re chained up. We can just attack from a distance and finish them off.”
“These zombies are supplying energy to a monster a hundred meters underground—one with three horns. Its head resembles a qilin, but its body is that of a tiger, and its tail is like a snake’s,” Luffy activated his Reincarnation Heavenly Eye, glimpsing the terrifying scene below.
“That’s an evil corpse fiend beast! How did you see it? You have x-ray vision?” Ji Xiaozhi crossed her arms defensively, eyeing Luffy with suspicion.
“Haha… yes, you guessed it. You’re wearing red underwear today,” Luffy said with an amused smirk, gazing at Ji Xiaozhi.
This beauty was truly impressive—at least a D cup, long legs, slender waist, oval face, and flowing hair, a sight to behold.
“You… you’re shameless!” Ji Xiaozhi’s face flushed with anger.
“Alright, don’t be angry, beauty. He’s just joking, and you’re the one who brought it up. I believe Long is a gentleman. With him, we’re in luck. He can see the monster underground—that creature is the guardian holy beast of the Heavenly Evil Sect. If we deal with the zombies and enter the underground, the holy beast will be ours,” Ximen Yu said excitedly.
“What’s so special about the Heavenly Evil Sect’s guardian holy beast? Why are you so happy?” Luffy asked in confusion.
“Long, you don’t know. The holy beast contains a trace of true dragon blood in its heart. If we obtain it, our strength will soar, and our bodies will be refined—becoming saints in the flesh is within reach. Even artillery wouldn’t kill us,” Ximen Yu’s excitement grew as he spoke.
“I see. But there’s only one heart—how do we divide it among the four of us?” Luffy glanced at Ximen Yu, Lei, and Ji Xiaozhi.
---
“That’s easy. At the end, we’ll play rock-paper-scissors; whoever wins gets it. Leave it to fate,” Ximen Yu smiled at Luffy.
“Leave it to fate, huh!” Ji Xiaozhi scoffed at Luffy.
“Well then, let’s each destroy our zombie first,” Luffy nodded, raising his Crimson Dragon Sword and slashing fiercely at the chained zombie before him.
He unleashed the third form of the Flame Sword Technique—the Great Flame Sword.
The Crimson Dragon Sword blazed, transforming into a massive, translucent sword of fire.
With a swift motion, he struck at the roaring zombie.
“Look at Long’s sword—so powerful and fierce,” Ximen Yu exclaimed, surprised.
This young man called Long was truly formidable, likely stronger than the End Times Trio, and only at the second tier, yet his strength was unfathomable.
Boom!
Luffy’s sword came down, and the zombie clad in Qing Dynasty official robes let out a furious roar; the ground trembled slightly.
Yet Luffy’s strike didn’t kill the zombie—instead, it sent it flying, crashing heavily into a two-meter-high stone tablet, falling to the ground. The zombie shrieked wildly, seemingly unharmed.
Luffy noticed tiny cracks appearing along the Crimson Dragon Sword, a testament to the zombie’s incredible toughness.
Clang!
Lei, unwilling to accept defeat, saw that Long’s strike hadn’t killed the zombie and slashed his own sword. Sparks flew.
He staggered back, and the zombie was flung into the stone tablet; the chains rattled noisily.
“These zombies have remarkably thick skin,” Ximen Yu observed, noting that being chained didn’t seem to harm them, likely due to their resilience.
Luffy wasn’t about to give up. He immediately discarded the Crimson Dragon Sword.
With a thought, a light screen appeared before his eyes. He opened the system’s store and selected the weapons arsenal.
“System, is there a sword that can handle these zombies?” Luffy communicated mentally.
“Ding! The Millennium Lightning-Struck Ebony Sword can ward off evil, slay demons, and destroy corpses. It costs only ten thousand crystal cores. Exchange?”
“What? Are you robbing me? Ten thousand crystal cores?”
---
Luffy nearly wanted to strangle the system. So expensive—ten thousand crystal cores, and the system dared say “only.” That sum could take forever to earn by killing zombies.
Of course, with luck, high-tier zombies or wild beasts could yield crystal cores faster.
“Ding! Exchange? In five seconds, the Millennium Lightning-Struck Ebony Sword will disappear.”
“Fine, exchange it now!” Luffy had no choice.
“Ding! Ten thousand crystal cores deducted. The Millennium Lightning-Struck Ebony Sword has been deposited in your temporary storage.”
Damn!
Luffy took out the ebony sword. Its surface was slightly dim, but its design was exquisite, and it felt comfortable in his hand.
Lightning occasionally flickered along the blade, giving it a cool, flashy appearance.
The sword was called Thunderblade.
Luffy raised Thunderblade high.
The zombie before him saw the sword and terror flashed in its eyes, its pupils contracting sharply.
Whoosh!
Thunderblade ignited in flame, transforming into a massive, translucent sword of fire, slicing toward the zombie.
In a flash, the zombie was cut in two—its tough skin and flesh were nothing before Thunderblade, mere mud.
The zombie toppled, wailing, blood pouring out.
The chains clattered.
Luffy stepped forward, severed the zombie’s fingernails, and stored them in his temporary storage. Such valuable items deserved careful handling.
“Oh…” Ximen Yu was stunned. Long had swapped swords and instantly destroyed the zombie. It was miraculous. His own jade flute couldn’t do the job, so he felt anxious.
Meanwhile, Lei’s sword crackled with electricity as he slashed, decapitating his zombie—its head flew off.
He was drenched in sweat, clearly having used all his strength to finish the zombie.
Ji Xiaozhi, on the other hand, was much calmer. The surroundings grew colder. In her right hand, a cyclone of wind and snow spun continuously.
She hurled it at her zombie.
Crackle!
The zombie was instantly frozen into an ice sculpture.
