Chapter 85: The Burning Incantation—Phoenix Rebirth Flame [Part Three]
“I would speak for the Li family? Ha, when they tried to tip you off to harm me, I wanted to annihilate them. I’m merely saying you beasts have no credibility whatsoever—nothing but savage creatures.” Luffy was surrounded by the four great demons, yet he remained tranquil. One of the cat demons strode toward him, while the other three stepped aside, eager to watch the spectacle unfold.
Suddenly, Luffy’s phone rang. He glanced at the giant cat demon. “Wait, I’ll deal with you in a moment. Let me answer this call first.”
“Go ahead. You’ll die either way,” the cat demon replied confidently.
“Hello, beautiful, what’s the matter?” Luffy saw that it was Qin Bailin calling, and couldn’t help but smile.
“There’s trouble—the armies of zombies and wild beasts are pressing in,” Qin Bailin spoke anxiously.
“I see. I’ll send someone over to help. I have things to handle here, but I’ll come to support you soon. Don’t worry, everything will be fine,” Luffy reassured her, then hung up and dialed Zeng Hongsen.
“Boss, what are your orders?” Zeng Hongsen said with a smile.
“Head east immediately, meet with Qin Bailin, and follow her instructions. Take Liu Yanmeng and the divine beast with you. Little Dragon Girl, you go as well,” Luffy said earnestly.
“Yes.” Zeng Hongsen wasted no time, dashing out of the room.
Luffy hung up, then looked at Little Dragon Girl, who was concealed nearby. “Alright, I won’t let your beloved come to harm,” she said reluctantly. “You’d better not get yourself into trouble either.”
“It’s fine—they can’t kill me. I’ll hurry over soon,” Luffy replied with a smile. Little Dragon Girl appeared briefly, then vanished once more.
The four great demons were stunned; they hadn’t expected that this youth had someone living hidden at his side.
“Show yourself before us! Don’t think you can escape,” the male quasi-serpent demon king shouted, charging off to the side.
“Don’t bother. Even I can’t sense her whereabouts—do you think you can? Enough, I’ve said all I need to. Come at me together; I don’t want to waste time,” Luffy’s eyes grew stern as he gazed seriously at the four demons.
“You’re far too arrogant, boy. I alone could end you,” the giant cat demon said coldly.
The other three demons remained unmoved, paying no heed to Luffy’s words. Their only thought was to slowly kill this youth, thus proving the might of the demon race.
“Death is simple,” the giant cat demon’s eyes glowed a ghastly green, shining brightly in the night as he advanced on Luffy step by step.
A metallic clang rang out—a scythe appeared in his hand, gleaming with icy light as he raised it high and slashed at Luffy.
It was swift as lightning.
The blade cut only empty air.
Luffy’s figure vanished amid the dust, appearing behind the giant cat demon.
The cat demon, startled, swung his scythe backward in a panic.
Again, the blade met nothing but emptiness.
Luffy, like a wraith, disappeared once more—such was the uncanny power of the Purple Dream Zewei. He materialized at the cat demon’s side.
“Die!” The giant cat demon felt as though he was being toyed with, forced to strike at nothing time and again, and his fury was boundless. The scythe in his hand radiated chilling energy, demon aura swirling into a dark green orb, crackling ominously, its power sending shivers down the spine.
“Oh, you used this move to destroy that other cat demon earlier. Interesting, but I find it far too weak,” Luffy shook his head. Now that he was serious, this demon was no match for him. Only a quasi-demon king could compete with him, but Qin Bailin faced grave danger—he could not afford to waste time here, or else the safe zone would be breached.
So, he decided to make the giant cat demon an example, to show them that underestimating him meant death.
Luffy drew the Thousand Thunder Sword and struck fiercely at the giant cat demon, who was hurling the dark green energy orb.
He unleashed the newly learned sword technique, the first form of “Two Severings”—Sword Strike.
With a metallic clang, the blade sliced through, sword energy slashing the dark green orb in two and then cleaving the giant cat demon cleanly in half.
To prevent the cat demon’s powerful, abnormal regenerative energy, Luffy infused dragon energy into his sword energy.
With a sickening sound, the cat demon’s body burst into flames after being severed, quickly engulfed in fire.
“You…” The female quasi-cat demon king was stunned, unable to believe her subordinate had been dispatched so quickly, and the power that erupted from this youth exceeded her expectations.
“It seems one subordinate isn’t enough to deal with this boy. Let me try,” the male quasi-serpent demon king said coldly, narrowing his eyes at Luffy. To think this youth could kill such a powerful cat demon—clearly he had underestimated him.
“You… courting death,” the male quasi-serpent demon king sneered, charging at Luffy, a blossom of blue flame appearing in his hand, shining brightly in the dark night.
A thunderous boom resounded.
Luffy slashed again, sword strike shattering the air.
The male quasi-serpent demon king’s flame surged, and with a powerful thrust, he burned Luffy’s sword strike to nothing.
“The Nether Serpent Fire of the quasi-serpent king is a lethal force. Whenever he attacks, any foe is reduced to ashes,” the female quasi-cat demon king said coolly. With the quasi-serpent king taking action, she had no need to intervene.
“You dare challenge us two quasi-five? Such audacity—unable to defeat even one of us, yet still so arrogant. Die!” The male quasi-serpent demon king, blue fire blazing, hurled himself at Luffy. The eerie blue flames burned at a terrifying temperature.
“Is that so? Who’s going to die isn’t decided yet,” Luffy countered coldly, dragon energy swirling as he activated the first and second layers of the Dragon Emperor’s Dominance Technique, meeting the quasi-serpent demon king’s punch head-on.
Blue fire collided with golden fire.
Luffy was forced back five steps, while the quasi-serpent demon king staggered back over ten.
Blood trickled from his lips; he hadn’t expected his Nether Serpent Fire to have little effect on the youth before him. The opponent’s flame, while not as potent as the Nether Serpent Fire, was strong enough to resist.
“So, the quasi-serpent king is nothing special,” Luffy advanced, dashing and handsome, his clothes whipping in the night wind as he stepped toward the quasi-serpent king.
The night sky was somber, the moonlight dim, and beneath the heavens, Luffy strode across the grass.
The quasi-serpent demon king’s expression grew dark, his fists clenching with crackling sounds.
“Congratulations, host, on discovering Nether Serpent Fire, which can fuse with your beast fire. Would you like to learn the Incineration Technique and evolve Nether Serpent Fire into Nirvana Rebirth Flame? It’s available for one million crystal cores. Once cultivated, the Incineration Technique can obscure your power level from others.”
