Chapter 112: Oh No, Shen Donghua Has Been Captured
Han Qin took a long, deep look at Chen Yang but didn't say anything more.
Closing her eyes again, she said slowly, "Yes, there is no need to worry so much. I have simply been worrying too much all this time."
"That’s right, Mom. Chen Yang only has your best interests at heart. I hope you won't fret so much from now on; your illness was brought on by all this worrying," Qin Muxue said, leaning over and speaking softly.
Han Qin gave a bitter, helpless smile. Deep down, she felt utterly frustrated. So, her tendency to worry had now become a vice. She had no response to that.
Afterward, Chen Yang turned to Qin Guoshan and said, "Dad, the most important thing for Mom now is to get plenty of rest. I still need to perform acupuncture on her at least five more times. During this period, you must take good care of her and make sure she doesn't get too worked up."
Qin Guoshan nodded quickly, "I understand that."
However, no sooner had he finished speaking than a thought crossed his mind, and he hurriedly asked Chen Yang, "Chen Yang, are you sure that your acupuncture treatment can actually cure her?"
"Of course, Dad. If you hire someone, you must trust them; if you don't trust them, don't hire them. Please, don't overthink it," Chen Yang said with a chuckle.
Qin Guoshan furrowed his brows but said nothing more. He decided to trust Chen Yang. Trusting that Chen Yang could cure his wife’s condition with acupuncture was surely better than opting for surgery. He chose to believe.
Once Qin Guoshan made that choice, he remained silent.
Just then, the middle-aged doctor looked at Chen Yang with curiosity and asked, "Young man, can acupuncture really cure a cerebral hemorrhage?"
"Certainly," Chen Yang replied calmly. "But it is by no means an easy feat."
"If you truly succeed in curing the patient's cerebral hemorrhage with acupuncture, the hospital will have to hire you as an expert," the doctor joked.
Chen Yang immediately laughed, "I’m just a traveling quack; how could I possibly be an expert in a hospital?"
In truth, Chen Yang was being modest. His acupuncture skills had been passed down directly from the renowned Master Hua of Yanjing. Even if he weren't in this small hospital in Linhai, he would easily qualify as an expert at any major hospital in Yanjing. However, Chen Yang had no desire to be an expert. He simply didn't want to. As he had thought before, he preferred to keep a low profile, whether in medicine or wealth. It never hurts to be low-key.
The middle-aged doctor, of course, did not know Chen Yang. Therefore, he couldn't tell if the young man was being humble or if his skill level was truly as limited as he claimed. He didn't dare to make a snap judgment. He decided it would be best to wait until Chen Yang actually cured the patient before forming an opinion; any judgment now would be premature.
With that thought, the doctor smiled at Chen Yang, said nothing more, and left with his staff.
Once the doctor was gone, Chen Yang turned to Qin Guoshan again. "Dad, don't worry. As long as Mom's condition is in my hands, I will make sure nothing goes wrong."
"Good, good," Qin Guoshan nodded repeatedly. Having chosen to believe in Chen Yang, he would stick with that decision.
***
He believed that Chen Yang would surely cure his wife.
Chen Yang and Qin Muxue stayed in the hospital room until ten o'clock that night. Qin Muxue wanted to stay and look after her mother overnight, but both Qin Guoshan and Han Qin refused. Qin Muxue couldn't win against the old couple, so she agreed to let her father stay as the caregiver.
Chen Yang and Qin Muxue then left the ward together. Once they were downstairs and inside the Mercedes, Qin Muxue still felt a bit uneasy. She looked at Chen Yang earnestly and asked, "Chen Yang, Mom’s illness… it will definitely be okay, right?"
"Don't worry, it will. I estimate that after five more sessions of acupuncture, she will be fully recovered. But the intervals between sessions cannot be too short. After one session, we must wait at least a week before the next," Chen Yang said calmly.
Qin Muxue nodded, looking serious. Chen Yang spoke with such confidence that she chose to believe him. Deep down, she was firmly convinced that Chen Yang would cure her mother.
She said nothing more and drove them home.
Early the next morning, just as Chen Yang sat up from his floor bedding, his phone, tucked under his pillow, began to ring. He was surprised to see that the call was from Zhang Lin. He wondered why Zhang Lin would be calling at such an hour.
After a moment's hesitation, he answered. To his shock, he immediately heard Zhang Lin’s panicked voice: "Mr. Chen, it's bad! Something has happened!"
"Something happened? What is it?" Chen Yang’s brow knitted together.
Zhang Lin blurted out, "Just a moment ago, a group of people suddenly burst in and forcibly took Mr. Shen away. I tried to stop them, but one of them threatened me with a knife, so I didn't dare to make a sound. I'm sorry, Mr. Chen! Before they left, they left a message: if we want to see Mr. Shen, we should go to the Zhenwu Martial Arts Hall. And they warned us not to call the police. That’s what happened."
Chen Yang listened intently, feeling deeply puzzled. Who would forcibly abduct Shen Donghua in the morning? Was it the Yu family? But if it were them, why leave a location? Was it an ambush?
He pondered for a long time but couldn't make sense of it. Regardless, he had to rescue Mr. Shen.
Chen Yang spoke firmly into the phone, "So they said if we want to see Mr. Shen, we go to the Zhenwu Martial Arts Hall, right?"
"Yes, Mr. Chen. What should we do?" Zhang Lin asked.
"Don't mention this to anyone yet. If the doctors or nurses at the hospital ask where Mr. Shen went, just make up any excuse to handle it. I’m heading to the Zhenwu Martial Arts Hall now to resolve this. You just stay at the hospital," Chen Yang ordered.
Zhang Lin nodded quickly, "Understood, Mr. Chen." Then, realizing that going to the martial arts hall might be dangerous, he added, "Mr. Chen, please be careful."
"It's fine, don't worry," Chen Yang said with a faint smile.
After hanging up, Chen Yang thought for a moment. He knew the Zhenwu Martial Arts Hall; it was located in the northern part of the city, within the Third Ring Road. It had a history of over a dozen years and was a large school with nearly a hundred students.
Chen Yang was certain that the people who abducted Shen Donghua were not from the school itself. There had to be someone else behind this—someone powerful. But who? There were many potential suspects.
He stopped overthinking it. Time was of the essence. He quickly washed up in the bathroom, went to the roadside, hailed a taxi, and headed toward the Zhenwu Martial Arts Hall.
On the way, he considered calling for backup, but decided against it. Bringing others would only be for show. It wasn't necessary; he could solve this on his own.
Half an hour later, the taxi stopped in front of the martial arts hall. As Chen Yang stepped out, two young men dressed in white shirts and black dress pants approached him with smiles on their faces. Chen Yang could tell at a glance that they were street thugs.
One of them, a young man with dyed yellow hair, asked with a grin, "Hello, you must be Mr. Chen, right?"
"I am," Chen Yang nodded lightly.
"Let’s go, then. My boss has been waiting for you for a long time," the yellow-haired man laughed.
Chen Yang asked, puzzled, "Your boss? Which boss?"
"What do you mean 'which boss'? Just 'the boss.' Mr. Chen, please, after you," the man said, bowing slightly.
"Very well," Chen Yang replied.
He followed the two men into the hall, feeling perfectly calm. From the way the man referred to his "boss," Chen Yang realized it wasn't the Yu family. That was a relief.
As he entered, he saw a bald man sitting on a grand mahogany chair directly across from the entrance, sipping tea. The man had squinted eyes and a lecherous appearance. His subordinates stood on either side of him and behind him, standing straight and projecting an air of menace.
As soon as Chen Yang stepped through the door, the bald man placed his teacup on the side table and smiled slightly. "Welcome, Mr. Chen."
