Chapter 127: Wanting to Work for Me Is Not That Simple
Lin Qianyao took a deep breath and let it out slowly upon hearing this. He could clearly tell from Chen Yang's tone that Chen Yang was determined to become the king of the Dongjiang underworld.
Realizing this, Lin Qianyao stopped overthinking it and decided to help Chen Yang as he always had.
"Then, President Chen, what do you need me to do?" Lin Qianyao asked with a serious expression.
Chen Yang already had a plan in mind, but it seemed there was no immediate need for Lin Qianyao's involvement. Chen Yang replied calmly, "Not for the moment. I’ll call you when I need you."
Lin Qianyao nodded quickly. "Understood, that’s fine."
"Alright, I'm hanging up now," Chen Yang said with a faint smile.
"Understood."
After Lin Qianyao’s response, Chen Yang hung up the phone. Once the call ended, Chen Yang immediately thought that since dealing with Xu Tianmeng was a necessity, he should act decisively and strike fast.
As long as he could tear Xu Tianmeng’s forces apart, he would surely become the king of the Dongjiang underworld.
Chen Yang decided to head to Dongjiang City immediately to implement his plan. However, someone needed to look after Huading Company while he was away. He quickly picked up his phone and called Shen Donghua.
Before long, Shen Donghua hurried into the office and stood before Chen Yang's desk, asking earnestly, "President Chen, do you have any instructions?"
Chen Yang smiled faintly. "I’m going to the provincial capital for a while. Please keep an eye on things here."
"Of course," Shen Donghua said with a quick nod. He couldn't help his curiosity and asked, "President Chen, may I ask why you are going to Dongjiang?"
"I have some business to attend to. It's quite urgent. I'll explain it to you when I return," Chen Yang replied with a light smile.
"Understood," Shen Donghua replied promptly. Since Chen Yang had said he would explain upon his return, it was not appropriate for him to press further.
Chen Yang then rose and said, "I’m off, then."
"Yes, sir," Shen Donghua said, looking relaxed.
Chen Yang smiled at Shen Donghua once more, then stood up from his chair and walked briskly out of the office.
When Chen Yang reappeared, he was already at the entrance of the martial arts gym in Dongjiang City. Having called Qin Hu beforehand, Qin Hu was already waiting there to greet him.
Qin Hu was now the lead recruiter for the gym and could be considered the person in charge of all matters, large and small. That was why Chen Yang called him whenever he arrived.
Chen Yang had two objectives for this visit. The first was to check on the progress of the recruitment. The second was to use these recruits to capture targets—specifically, the four fierce generals under Xu Tianmeng’s command.
Before arriving, Chen Yang had already instructed Wang Xu to investigate the organizational structure of Xu Tianmeng’s forces. He learned that Xu Tianmeng had four top generals who were his trusted confidants—his right-hand men.
If he could capture these four and keep them out of sight for a month, Xu Tianmeng’s subordinates would inevitably fall into disarray. This was Chen Yang’s plan: to use the recruits from the gym to seize those four men.
Upon meeting, Chen Yang clapped Qin Hu heavily on the shoulder and asked, "How is the recruitment going lately?"
Qin Hu stood straight, his expression respectful. "President Chen, following your requirements, we have recruited exactly ten people."
"Did you recruit all ten based on your own standards?" Chen Yang asked, looking at him.
Qin Hu nodded seriously. "Yes. You said you wanted a group of people similar to me, so I followed that standard. However, many who came recently were either only after money or lacked real skill. I turned away at least seventy people, which is why only ten remain."
"So, that means these remaining ten must be elite fighters," Chen Yang said with an expectant smile.
Qin Hu furrowed his brow slightly and chuckled. "They aren't exactly elite, but they aren't bad either."
"Very well. I want to take a good look at them. Bring them to the training hall," Chen Yang commanded with his hands behind his back.
"Yes, sir," Qin Hu replied promptly.
They parted ways at the entrance of the inner courtyard; Chen Yang headed to the training hall, while Qin Hu went to the outer courtyard to summon the ten new recruits.
Chen Yang waited in the training hall for five minutes before Qin Hu brought in the ten sturdy men.
As they entered, Chen Yang observed them carefully one by one. He concluded that while they looked different, they all appeared physically strong and had honest faces—none of them had the shifty appearance of a crook.
Under Qin Hu’s direction, the ten men stood in a neat line, hands behind their backs, legs spread in a training stance. They all held their heads high and chests out, looking very spirited.
Once they were in position, Qin Hu ran over to Chen Yang and reported, "President Chen, the ten members are assembled and awaiting your instructions."
Chen Yang looked at Qin Hu with a sense of resignation; he felt that the military-style training routines were unnecessary, but he didn't voice it. Instead, he looked at the ten young, capable men and smiled slightly. "Do you all know who I am?"
"Yes."
"We do."
The ten young men answered in a slightly disjointed chorus.
Chen Yang didn't mind. He continued, "Do you know why I recruited you, gave you high salaries, and ensured you have no worries about food or clothing?"
"To work for you, President Chen."
"To help you with your worries, President Chen."
Two of the more outgoing young men answered with smiles.
Chen Yang glanced at them, then withdrew his gaze and nodded. "Yes, you are all correct. I recruited you to accomplish great things. However, while some may look like they are capable of great things, they may not actually be the right material."
"You have successfully become members of my gym, but 'the waves wash away the sand'—only the true gold remains. I don't know you well yet, but I should soon."
With that, Chen Yang took four A4 sheets of paper from his pocket. Each sheet featured a photo of one of Xu Tianmeng’s generals, along with their home addresses, phone numbers, favorite haunts, and family information—it was incredibly comprehensive.
Chen Yang displayed the four pages one by one, then squinted and said sternly, "I don't know you yet, but I want to gauge your capabilities through action. These four men on these papers are the ones I want captured. I need you to capture all of them before midnight tonight. Furthermore, you must leave no trace and do it cleanly. Do you dare to take on this task?"
