Chapter 82: The Wealthy Young Master from the Provincial Capital Causes Trouble Again
The person who suddenly appeared at Qin Muxue’s side was, of course, none other than Lin Qianyao. Lin Qianyao had arrived at the hotel lobby early, and as soon as Qin Muxue entered, he immediately took notice. The short, chubby man who had abruptly approached Qin Muxue for a conversation was someone Lin Qianyao knew all too well—a notorious philanderer. Witnessing the situation, Lin Qianyao could not simply pretend he had seen nothing; he hurried over to assist Qin Muxue.
The short, chubby man stared at Lin Qianyao for two seconds, then chuckled, “President Lin, what brings you here?”
“Apologize to Miss Qin,” Lin Qianyao said calmly.
“Apologize? President Lin, but… why?” The man asked with a bitter smile.
Lin Qianyao’s gaze turned cold. “Miss Qin is my friend. You should know why. I do not wish to repeat myself.”
The chubby man felt helpless. He could not afford to offend Lin Qianyao. Though a little disgruntled, he bowed his head and said to Qin Muxue, “President Qin, sorry about that.”
“It’s all right,” Qin Muxue replied softly.
It was her first time attending such a gathering, and she was still too proper. In truth, she need not have paid any mind to someone like the chubby man. But she feared embarrassing him—she was simply too honest.
The short man glanced at Lin Qianyao once more before retreating, somewhat abashed.
As soon as he left, Qin Muxue looked nervously at Lin Qianyao. “Are you… President Lin?”
Lin Qianyao smiled. “Indeed, Miss Qin. Let’s talk over there.”
Qin Muxue quickly nodded. “All right, all right.”
In her heart, Qin Muxue regarded Lin Qianyao as a grand boss, a person of legend, not realizing that Lin Qianyao was actually under Chen Yang’s command. Lin Qianyao had only come to help her because Chen Yang had instructed him to do so.
Soon, the so-called business association’s two-day exchange meeting passed. Thanks to Lin Qianyao’s care, Qin Muxue’s participation went smoothly. She was deeply grateful to Lin Qianyao, who had looked after her throughout the event.
By the time Qin Muxue returned home, it was past eight in the evening. Chen Yang was naturally at home as well. Through conversations with Lin Qianyao, Chen Yang was fully aware of everything that had occurred at the exchange.
As soon as Qin Muxue walked in, Chen Yang looked at her with a smile. “Muxue, you’re back?”
Qin Muxue smiled slightly. “Yes.”
“Oh, looks like you had a good time at the business exchange,” Chen Yang chuckled.
“It was all right,” Qin Muxue replied softly.
“Did you meet President Lin?” Chen Yang squinted, asking knowingly, though he wanted to hear it from her, finding it amusing.
“Do you mean Lin Qianyao, President Lin?”
Qin Muxue looked at Chen Yang inquiringly.
Chen Yang laughed. “Of course.”
“Yes,” Qin Muxue nodded, then sat down on the sofa, gazing at Chen Yang with curiosity. “How did you know I met President Lin?”
“I just knew. I searched for plenty of news about the exchange online and saw that President Lin attended. Your company is collaborating with his, isn’t it? So I boldly guessed,” Chen Yang replied with a chuckle.
Qin Muxue nodded slightly, but then turned to Chen Yang. “Why did you search for news about the exchange? Are you worried about me?”
“Of course. My wife is so beautiful, how could I not worry?” Chen Yang grinned.
Qin Muxue rolled her eyes but said nothing more.
Chen Yang asked again, “Did you meet many big bosses at the exchange?”
“Yes, naturally. It’s a business association—everyone there is a big boss,” Qin Muxue replied.
Chen Yang laughed. “Are you planning to collaborate with several companies?”
Qin Muxue’s brows furrowed. The more they talked, the more she realized something was off—how did Chen Yang seem to know everything? It was as if he had attended the exchange himself.
Qin Muxue couldn’t help but frown. “Why does it sound like you were following me?”
“Following you? You really have an imagination,” Chen Yang replied, helplessly amused. He hadn’t expected Qin Muxue to think that.
“Then how do you seem to know everything?” Qin Muxue pressed.
Chen Yang scratched his head, exasperated. “It’s easy for me to guess these things.”
Qin Muxue gave Chen Yang a long, searching look, then said nothing more. Chen Yang felt there was nothing else worth saying, so he let the matter drop.
The next morning, Chen Yang and Qin Muxue’s lives returned to their usual rhythm.
But for the Southwest Business Association of Linhai, they were about to welcome a very important guest. This guest was none other than Mr. Yu from the Yu family of the provincial capital.
The Yu family was one of the three great families of the provincial capital, renowned for their strength, and young master Yu was the eldest son. Though he had come to Linhai merely to visit friends, for the Southwest Business Association, his arrival was momentous.
After all, the Southwest Business Association was seeking ways to expand into the provincial capital, and if they could establish a rapport with young master Yu, it would open a door for their business ventures there.
Thus, that evening, eight members of the Southwest Business Association took turns calling Yu Fanwei, speaking every good word they could, until at last they secured an opportunity to dine with him.
At eight o’clock that night, in the most luxurious Linhai Grand Hotel, in suite 808, a man with a neatly parted hairstyle, his hair slicked thick with gel, sat confidently at the head of the table. Cui Shangkai and another prominent figure in the Linhai business circle sat beside him.
Yu Fanwei smoked an expensive cigarette, his face bearing an arrogant expression.
After Cui Shangkai and several others from the Southwest Business Association toasted Yu Fanwei with two rounds of drinks, Yu Fanwei finally turned his gaze to Cui Shangkai. “President Cui, you must be busy with the North Suburb New City project, right?”
Cui Shangkai’s face immediately showed a bitter smile. “Ah… Young master Yu, to tell you the truth, we can’t even get involved with that project.”
Yu Fanwei took a deep drag on his cigarette. “Oh? What’s the situation? Isn’t the Southwest Business Association the biggest real estate player in Linhai?”
Cui Shangkai replied, helpless, “Young master Yu, to be honest, we’re not the biggest anymore. Huading Company is. They’ve just appointed a new president named Chen, and he’s quite domineering.”
“Yes, young master Yu, this President Chen pays no mind to anyone, tough as nails, stingy as a stone. He’s got a tight grip on the North Suburb New City land—no one can get a foot in,” another businessman added, embellishing his words. Since Chen Yang wasn’t present, he felt free to speak ill—after all, there was no chance Chen Yang would hear.
Yu Fanwei laughed. “Oh? Really? What’s his name? I haven’t heard of him.”
Cui Shangkai had experienced Chen Yang’s prowess firsthand and wanted no trouble. He quickly replied, “Let’s not dwell on it, young master Yu. I’m just venting to you. As for the North Suburb New City project, I’ve given up.”
Yu Fanwei took another deep drag, saying nothing, but his face showed clear displeasure.
Cui Shangkai noticed Yu Fanwei’s mood and hurriedly said, “Young master Yu, please don’t misunderstand.”
At that moment, another businessman from the Southwest Business Association spoke up loudly, “Brother Cui, since young master Yu asked, you should tell him. If you say nothing, how can he be satisfied?”
Cui Shangkai could only smile helplessly. “Young master Yu, I’m not hiding anything from you. If you want to know, I’ll tell you. His name is Chen Yang, and…” He proceeded to recount everything that had transpired between the Southwest Business Association and Chen Yang.
After listening, Yu Fanwei stubbed out his cigarette in a glass ashtray and sneered. “So, according to you, even if I wanted to get involved, I couldn’t?”
Cui Shangkai replied quickly, “If you wanted to get involved, I couldn’t say. Maybe you could. You have the clout.”
Yu Fanwei pondered for a moment, then smiled at Cui Shangkai. “I’ve heard that if the North Suburb New City is completed, it will be very profitable. Are you looking to work with me?”
Cui Shangkai’s eyes widened at his words.
What did Yu Fanwei mean? Was he suggesting he might lead them?
If so, it would be a tremendous opportunity.
Nonetheless, Cui Shangkai hesitated, knowing Chen Yang was not easily dealt with. Weighing his options, he turned to Yu Fanwei. “Young master Yu, do you have any suggestions?”
Yu Fanwei chuckled. “I’ve never dealt with someone so arrogant. Here’s what I’ll do: I’ll have him come see me tomorrow and see what he’s made of.”
With that, Yu Fanwei pulled out his phone and dialed a number.
The next morning, Chen Yang had just arrived at his office when Shen Donghua hurried in, reporting urgently, “President Chen, there’s been a situation.”
