Chapter Thirty: Who Is the Powerful Figure Behind All This?
Shen Donghua smiled, saying nothing more. After all, Huading Company belonged to Chen Yang; wasn’t it up to Chen Yang to decide how to play the game? After his smile, Shen Donghua turned to Chen Yang and spoke earnestly, “Alright, Mr. Chen, when President Xiao arrives, I’ll come to fetch you.”
“Sure, no problem,” Chen Yang replied calmly.
Shen Donghua gave Chen Yang a respectful nod, then bowed and withdrew.
Watching Shen Donghua’s deferential demeanor, Chen Yang felt deeply satisfied; indeed, the world of wealth was a different world entirely.
A little after four in the afternoon, the famed beauty president of Rose Group, Xiao Rongfei, arrived.
Xiao Rongfei, thirty years old and still unmarried, was a renowned beauty and a career woman in the business circles of Linhai. She was devoted to expanding and strengthening her Rose Architectural Design Company, and so, for the sake of her career, she had neglected her personal affairs these past years.
At four-thirty, Chen Yang, accompanied by Shen Donghua, entered the conference room.
Xiao Rongfei had already been waiting there for quite some time.
She was a stunning woman with a fiery figure and long, wavy hair cascading over her shoulders. Dressed in a professional black suit, she exuded a mature allure from every pore.
Upon seeing Shen Donghua, Xiao Rongfei immediately rose and smiled, “President Shen, where is President Chen?”
“President Chen?”
Shen Donghua smiled wryly.
Xiao Rongfei had never met Chen Yang before, so she had no idea that the young man standing beside Shen Donghua was actually the chairman of Huading Company.
Shen Donghua said, “President Chen is neither far nor near; he’s right before your eyes.”
“Neither far nor near?” Xiao Rongfei blinked her beautiful eyes, thought for a moment, then looked at Chen Yang in surprise, “Is… is this President Chen?”
“Indeed,” Shen Donghua smiled, “This is our company’s chairman, President Chen.”
Xiao Rongfei was incredulous, then embarrassed. She had imagined that anyone who could control such a vast company behind the scenes would surely be a man in his forties at the very least.
Yet, who would have expected that President Chen was a young man in his twenties?
After a moment of awkwardness, Xiao Rongfei hurried forward and offered her hand, “Hello, President Chen. I truly failed to recognize you just now.”
Chen Yang grinned, “I do look nothing like a boss.”
“Not at all,” Xiao Rongfei praised, “You certainly look like a promising, wealthy young man.”
“Do I look like a wealthy man?” Chen Yang smiled helplessly.
He wondered, if he really looked wealthy, why did his mother-in-law and father-in-law never notice?
Xiao Rongfei held Chen Yang’s hand tightly, “President Chen, shall we sit down and talk?”
“Of course,” Chen Yang replied coolly.
Chen Yang took a seat, and Xiao Rongfei sat beside him, meticulously explaining the advantages of her design company, hoping Chen Yang would entrust the architectural design of the upcoming Huabei residential project to them.
Without question, Xiao Rongfei was an absolute beauty, but from the perspective of company interests, choosing a partner shouldn’t be based on the appearance of the other company’s president.
It required thorough consideration and comparison to decide which design company to cooperate with.
Thus, Chen Yang was not dazzled by Xiao Rongfei’s beauty and said with a faint smile, “Very well, President Xiao. I’ll carefully review your company’s profile. Three days from now, I’ll notify you.”
Xiao Rongfei was eager to secure Huading Company’s business and said excitedly, “President Chen, our Rose Company has served many large firms before; we have both experience and strength. Choosing us will not be a mistake.”
Chen Yang looked at Xiao Rongfei calmly, “I understand your eagerness, but as I said, I’ll reply in three days.”
Xiao Rongfei was a little surprised again.
She had never met President Chen before, yet his decisiveness and firmness now truly revealed the bearing of a major executive.
She felt an increasing curiosity about Chen Yang.
At that moment, Shen Donghua spoke to Xiao Rongfei, “President Xiao, President Chen has said he’ll reply in three days; let’s proceed as he wishes.”
With Shen Donghua’s words, Xiao Rongfei could hardly say more.
She smiled sweetly at Chen Yang, “It’s an honor to meet you, President Chen. I hope we’ll have the opportunity to work together in the future.”
Chen Yang smiled, “If your company meets our requirements in all aspects, there will certainly be a chance for cooperation.”
“President Chen, you’re truly charming,” Xiao Rongfei complimented.
“Am I?” Chen Yang smiled wryly.
He knew that businesswomen like Xiao Rongfei were always adept at flattery.
He listened to the compliments, amused but not taking them to heart.
Xiao Rongfei then left the office with her team.
As soon as she left, Shen Donghua hurried over and softly asked, “President Chen, will you consider Rose Company?”
“Of course, they’re in consideration, but I’ll still compare them to other companies. I can’t just choose them because the president is a beautiful woman,” Chen Yang replied.
Shen Donghua chuckled, “Alright, understood.”
Chen Yang nodded slightly.
At six in the evening, Chen Yang returned home as usual. His mother-in-law and father-in-law were absent; he didn’t know where they had gone. Sitting on the sofa for a while, Chen Yang received a call from Shen Donghua.
He answered, and Shen Donghua reported seriously, “President Chen, just now President Han of Han Group in the provincial capital called me, pleading on behalf of the Qin family. He asked Huading Company not to cease cooperation with the Qin Group. How should I handle this?”
“Oh? Is that so?” Chen Yang laughed upon hearing this.
He knew the Qin family had many connections in the provincial capital.
But those were merely connections.
This time, Qin Guofu had managed to get President Han of Han Group to intercede for him, which showed some capability.
However, over these past five years, Qin Guofu and his family had spoken ill of him and Qin Muxue behind their backs—Chen Yang was well aware of it.
Chen Yang was no saint, merely a normal person with love and hate.
Last time, when the old Qin patriarch was gravely ill, Qin Guofu had openly accused Shen Donghua of having an affair with Qin Muxue before a crowd. That was beyond reprehensible.
How could Chen Yang let such a person off?
“What’s so hard about it? Just refuse. Tell them Huading Company has a new partner,” Chen Yang said.
Shen Donghua sounded troubled, “Yes, I understand your intent, but Han Group is a provincial power. I think we’ll need President Lin to step in and say something.”
“Is that necessary? Fine, I’ll talk to President Lin,” Chen Yang replied calmly.
Shen Donghua laughed with relief, “Good, then the matter will be resolved smoothly.”
“Alright, I understand. Goodbye,” Chen Yang said, and hung up.
After ending the call with Shen Donghua, Chen Yang immediately phoned Lin Qianyao, explained the situation, and asked him to remind President Han of Han Group to stay out of the Qin family’s affairs in Linhai.
Lin Qianyao dared not refuse Chen Yang’s request and readily agreed.
Soon, Lin Qianyao called President Han of Han Group.
Meanwhile,
In Room 509 of the inpatient building at Linhai First People’s Hospital,
Qin Guofu was reporting to Qin Tianrong, who lay in bed, “Dad, rest assured, I’ve asked President Han Changjiang to plead on our behalf. Shen Donghua will surely restore cooperation with the Qin Group out of respect.”
Qin Tianrong frowned, his face full of anger, muttering, “This time, thanks to that girl from the Guoshan family, the clan nearly suffered. If Shen Donghua resumes cooperation with us, find an opportunity to reprimand that Guoshan girl.”
Qin Guofu frowned, “Absolutely, Dad. Don’t worry. Qin Muxue and that Chen Yang—who knows what’s gotten into them lately? They’ve been disrespectful to elders and even hired people to beat up relatives. They’ve done every bad thing imaginable. I won’t spare them.”
“Those two degenerates!” Qin Tianrong cursed angrily.
Buzz!
Just then, Qin Guofu’s phone rang unexpectedly. He took it out and saw it was Han Changjiang calling. He hurriedly said to Qin Tianrong, “Dad, it’s President Han.”
“Hurry, answer it!” Qin Tianrong urged.
Qin Guofu quickly answered, his face breaking into a smile, “President Han, you called me?”
“Ah… Guofu, don’t blame me for not helping. I want your company to do well, but I can’t intervene in this matter with Huading Company,” Han Changjiang said helplessly.
Qin Guofu panicked, “President Han, why not? With your status in the provincial capital, would Shen Donghua dare disrespect you?”
“I thought this was a minor issue and Shen Donghua would surely give me face, but Lin Qianyao has stepped in. Now, I can’t meddle,” Han Changjiang said resignedly.
“Who? Lin Qianyao? The president of Huading Group?” Qin Guofu’s eyes widened, instantly realizing someone powerful was working against the Qin family.
This was a trivial matter—why would Lin Qianyao get involved?
It seemed Shen Donghua was determined not to cooperate with the Qin Group.
Yet, Qin Guofu sensed that behind all this, a major figure was deliberately opposing the Qin family. Could such a person exist? If so, who was it?
